Carpenters Automotive and Transport Limited is currently hiring a Light Vehicle Technician for its operations in Papua New Guinea. This opportunity is ideal for experienced automotive professionals with strong diagnostic, repair, and customer service skills, particularly in modern light vehicle systems including mechanical, electrical, electronic, hybrid, and EV technologies.
Light Vehicle Technician
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
- Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- High school diploma or equivalent (additional automotive education is an advantage)
- Strong experience in automotive servicing, diagnostics, and repair
- Good understanding of hybrid and electric vehicle technologies is an advantage
- Experience in customer-facing automotive service roles is preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Knowledge of workplace health, safety, and environmental standards
Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled servicing and repairs on light vehicles, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, following manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
- Use advanced diagnostic tools and software to identify faults, interpret error codes, and carry out effective repairs and corrective actions.
- Conduct detailed inspections of braking systems, suspension, steering, and emission systems to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Diagnose vehicle issues accurately and recommend appropriate repair solutions.
- Ensure all repair work is completed efficiently, safely, and according to company and manufacturer standards.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding vehicle condition, repair needs, and service recommendations.
- Provide accurate information and updates to customers throughout the repair process.
- Maintain detailed service records, inspection reports, and repair documentation.
- Work collaboratively with workshop teams to ensure smooth workflow and high-quality service delivery.
- Ensure all tools, equipment, and workshop areas are maintained in safe and working condition.
