Yamamoto Denki Co Ltd is seeking qualified and experienced Iron Workers to work in Japan. The successful candidates will be responsible for erecting and assembling structural steel frameworks, installing reinforcing steel and metal mesh for concrete structures, and performing related steel fabrication and construction activities. The position requires strong physical stamina, technical skills, safe operation of tools and equipment, and the ability to work at heights and in varying outdoor conditions.

IRON WORKER

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience is required.
• Must be at least a high school graduate.
• Relevant experience in ironworking, steel erection, structural steel construction, reinforcement, or related construction work.
• Formal training or apprenticeship in ironworking, steel construction, welding, or a related trade is highly advantageous. A formal 3- to 4-year apprenticeship combining practical on-the-job training and classroom instruction is preferred.
• Skilled in positioning, aligning, connecting, and securing steel columns, beams, girders, and other structural components.
• Experience installing rebar and metal reinforcement mesh for concrete structures.
• Knowledge of steel cutting, bending, fabrication, and assembly techniques.
• Ability to safely operate shears, torches, welding machines, rod-bending tools, and other related equipment.
• Ability to work safely with cranes and communicate effectively with crane operators during lifting operations.
• Strong understanding of construction-site safety procedures and proper PPE use.
• Good physical stamina and ability to perform heavy lifting, bending, climbing, and other demanding manual work.
• Good balance and agility, with the ability to work safely at significant heights and on narrow beams or elevated structures.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong awareness of fall hazards and ability to follow appropriate fall-protection procedures.
• Good attention to detail and ability to follow construction drawings, measurements, and technical instructions.
• Reliable, disciplined, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a construction team.

Responsibilities:

• Erect and assemble structural steel frameworks according to construction plans and specifications.
• Position, align, and connect steel columns, beams, girders, and other structural steel components.
• Secure structural steel members using bolts, wire, welds, and other approved connection methods.
• Read and follow construction drawings, structural plans, measurements, and work instructions.
• Measure, mark, and check steel components to ensure proper alignment and positioning.
• Install and secure reinforcing steel bars (rebar) within concrete forms.
• Place and secure metal mesh and other reinforcing materials to strengthen concrete structures.
• Prepare reinforcement materials according to required dimensions, spacing, and construction specifications.
• Operate shears, torches, welding machines, rod-bending tools, and other ironworking equipment safely.
• Cut, bend, shape, and prepare steel bars and structural components as required.
• Perform basic welding and steel fabrication work when assigned and qualified.
• Use hand tools and power tools for steel assembly, fabrication, fastening, and finishing.
• Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing heavy steel components during structural assembly.
• Properly signal and communicate with crane operators during lifting and positioning of heavy materials.
• Guide suspended loads and ensure that steel components are positioned safely before installation.
• Inspect structural steel connections, reinforcement placement, and completed work for accuracy and stability.
• Identify and report damaged materials, improper alignment, unsafe conditions, or construction issues to supervisors.
• Maintain and inspect tools, welding equipment, cutting equipment, and other ironworking machinery.
• Keep work areas, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and safe.
• Follow construction schedules, technical instructions, project specifications, and quality standards.
• Use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including appropriate fall protection when working at heights.
• Follow Japanese workplace safety procedures when working with heavy steel, welding equipment, cranes, and elevated structures.
• Perform heavy lifting, bending, climbing, and other physically demanding tasks associated with ironworking.
• Work safely on elevated structures, narrow beams, platforms, and other areas requiring good balance and agility.
• Coordinate with steel erectors, welders, construction workers, crane operators, supervisors, and other site personnel.
• Perform other ironworking, steel erection, reinforcement, and construction duties assigned by management.
