Carpenter Automotive & Transport Limited / Boroko Motors is seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Technician to join its technical team in Papua New Guinea. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and safety in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company standards.
HEAVY EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in the automotive industry, preferably involving heavy equipment or heavy machinery.
- Previous experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician, Diesel Mechanic, or similar role is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, powertrain components, and heavy equipment electrical systems.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and workshop equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and hydraulic problems efficiently.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced workshop environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance, servicing, and repairs on heavy equipment and machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic faults using specialized diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Repair or replace defective components, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, braking systems, and electrical systems.
- Conduct equipment inspections to identify wear, damage, and potential mechanical issues.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, hydraulic and electrical schematics, and service documentation.
- Perform functional testing to verify repairs and ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate service records, repair reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of workshop tools, equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
- Follow workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
- Collaborate with workshop personnel and supervisors to complete maintenance and repair work within scheduled timelines.
