Qualifications:
- Male applicants are preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of working experience as an Auto Painter or in a related automotive painting position.
- Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in a relevant field.
- Practical experience in automotive surface preparation, painting, refinishing, and finishing.
- Skilled in cleaning, sanding, masking, filling, priming, painting, polishing, and touch-up work.
- Experience using body putty, fillers, soldering equipment, spray guns, sanding tools, and other automotive painting equipment.
- Knowledge of automotive paint mixing, color matching, blending, and application techniques.
- Ability to identify and correct paint defects such as runs, sags, bubbles, uneven coverage, and color mismatches.
- Good understanding of proper surface preparation and finishing procedures.
- Knowledge of safe handling and storage of paints, solvents, thinners, and other chemicals.
- Familiarity with workplace safety and proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Able to work efficiently in a busy automotive workshop environment.
- Good teamwork, communication, and time-management skills.
- Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on automotive painting duties.
- Reliable, hardworking, disciplined, and willing to follow workshop procedures and supervisor instructions.
Responsibilities:
- Clean and wash vehicles and vehicle parts to remove dirt, grease, oil, rust, and other contaminants before painting.
- Inspect vehicle surfaces and parts to identify dents, scratches, rust, cracks, and other imperfections requiring repair.
- Prepare vehicle surfaces through sanding, grinding, masking, filling, and other appropriate preparation techniques.
- Fill dents, cavities, scratches, and surface imperfections using body putty, fillers, or soldering equipment as required.
- Sand and smooth repaired surfaces to achieve an even finish before applying primer and paint.
- Apply primer, basecoat, paint, clearcoat, and other automotive finishing materials according to specifications.
- Mix and prepare automotive paints and coatings to achieve the required color and consistency.
- Match paint colors accurately and perform blending where necessary to achieve a uniform appearance.
- Use spray guns, compressors, sanding tools, polishing equipment, and other automotive painting tools safely and correctly.
- Properly mask windows, trims, lights, tires, and other areas that must be protected from paint.
- Follow appropriate drying, curing, and finishing procedures for automotive paint applications.
- Inspect painted surfaces for runs, sags, bubbles, uneven coverage, dust, defects, or color mismatches.
- Perform necessary touch-ups, sanding, polishing, or repainting to correct defects and achieve the required finish.
- Ensure completed vehicles and parts meet established quality and appearance standards.
- Maintain proper cleanliness and organization of the paint preparation and work areas.
- Clean and maintain spray guns, painting equipment, tools, and related equipment after use.
- Handle paints, solvents, thinners, fillers, and other chemicals according to proper safety procedures.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling paint, chemicals, and painting equipment.
- Follow workplace safety, environmental, and hazardous-material handling procedures.
- Minimize paint and material waste through proper preparation, mixing, and application.
- Report equipment problems, material shortages, or significant vehicle defects to the supervisor.
- Coordinate with body repair technicians and other workshop personnel to ensure efficient vehicle repair and painting operations.
- Complete assigned painting jobs within required quality and time standards.
- Perform other automotive painting and workshop duties assigned by management.
