Furniture Painter

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of working experience as a Furniture Painter or in a related painting and finishing position.
  • No minimum educational attainment is required for this position.
  • Male applicants are preferred for this role.
  • Must have a valid passport with at least 2 years validity.
  • Strong experience in furniture painting and finishing.
  • Strong experience in POSM finishing works.
  • Experience in booth stand finishing and retail fit-out finishing works.
  • Hands-on experience in all major painting stages, including sanding, putty application, priming, sealing, spray painting, and final coating.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in wood stain, Duco paint, oven paint, PU paint, lacquer, and other high-quality finishing systems.
  • Ability to properly prepare and finish natural wood, MDF, melamine, plywood, and similar furniture surfaces.
  • Good knowledge of surface preparation, sanding, filling, priming, sealing, painting, and final finishing techniques.
  • Ability to perform accurate color matching and maintain consistent shades across furniture and display components.
  • Good understanding of different gloss levels, textures, coating systems, and premium finishing standards.
  • Skilled in spray painting and proper handling of spray guns and related equipment.
  • Ability to identify and correct surface and finishing defects such as uneven coatings, runs, sags, bubbles, scratches, and color inconsistencies.
  • Strong attention to detail, precision, and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work efficiently under production schedules and project deadlines.
  • Good understanding of workplace safety and proper handling of paints, solvents, chemicals, and finishing materials.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on painting and finishing work.
  • Reliable, hardworking, disciplined, and quality-conscious.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare furniture, POSM, booth stands, and retail fit-out components for painting and finishing.
  • Inspect surfaces and identify imperfections, cracks, dents, scratches, uneven areas, and other defects before applying finishes.
  • Prepare surfaces made from natural wood, MDF, melamine, plywood, and other furniture materials.
  • Perform proper sanding to achieve smooth, even, and paint-ready surfaces.
  • Apply putty or filler to dents, holes, joints, gaps, and surface imperfections.
  • Sand and smooth putty applications to achieve an even surface before priming.
  • Apply appropriate primer and sealer according to the material and required finishing system.
  • Perform spray painting using proper equipment, techniques, and application methods.
  • Apply final coatings and finishing products to achieve the required appearance, durability, and quality.
  • Work with various painting and finishing systems, including wood stain, Duco paint, oven paint, PU paint, lacquer, and high-quality final coatings.
  • Apply wood stains evenly while maintaining the desired natural wood appearance and color consistency.
  • Perform Duco, PU, lacquer, and other premium paint finishes according to project specifications.
  • Ensure proper drying, curing, sanding, and recoating between painting stages.
  • Perform color matching and make necessary adjustments to achieve the required shade and appearance.
  • Control gloss levels, color consistency, texture, smoothness, and overall finish quality.
  • Conduct final inspections to identify runs, sags, bubbles, uneven coating, color differences, overspray, or other finishing defects.
  • Perform touch-ups, corrections, polishing, and additional coating as necessary to meet quality standards.
  • Ensure finished furniture and display materials meet required specifications and premium finishing standards.
  • Handle spray guns, sanding tools, painting equipment, and other finishing tools properly and safely.
  • Clean and maintain spray guns, painting tools, work areas, and finishing equipment after use.
  • Follow proper mixing ratios and application procedures for paints, primers, sealers, lacquers, and other finishing materials.
  • Maintain proper ventilation and safe handling of paints, solvents, chemicals, and finishing materials.
  • Protect surrounding surfaces and completed components from overspray, dust, stains, and accidental damage.
  • Coordinate with carpenters, furniture fabricators, installers, designers, and other production personnel to ensure finishing requirements are met.
  • Complete assigned painting and finishing work according to production schedules and project deadlines.
  • Minimize material wastage through proper preparation, mixing, application, and storage of painting materials.
  • Follow workplace safety, chemical handling, housekeeping, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe painting and finishing work area.
  • Perform other furniture painting, POSM finishing, booth stand finishing, and retail fit-out finishing duties assigned by management.
