Peloton Workready is seeking an experienced and skilled Plasterer (Wall and Ceiling) for an overseas work opportunity in Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing wall and ceiling surfaces, mixing plastering materials, applying base and finish coats, installing plasterboards and wallboards, performing exterior rendering, and repairing damaged surfaces while maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and workplace safety.
PLASTERER (WALL AND CEILING)
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of working experience as a Plasterer or in a related wall, ceiling, rendering, or plastering position.
- Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in a relevant or similar field.
- Must have a valid passport.
- Must have relevant work experience in the same field.
- Practical experience in wall and ceiling plastering, drylining, rendering, surface preparation, and plaster repair.
- Skilled in preparing and mixing plaster, cement, sand, water, and other plastering materials.
- Ability to apply smooth and finish coats using trowels, hawks, floats, and other plastering tools.
- Knowledge of leveling, straightening, smoothing, and finishing walls and ceilings to achieve uniform surfaces.
- Experience installing plasterboards, wallboards, ceiling boards, partitions, and related interior systems.
- Ability to accurately measure, cut, fit, align, and secure plasterboard panels.
- Knowledge of exterior rendering techniques, including sand-cement render and pebble-dash finishes.
- Ability to repair cracks, holes, water-damaged surfaces, deteriorated plaster, and other wall and ceiling defects.
- Knowledge of installing wire mesh, laths, and other reinforcement or backing materials when required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good understanding of construction-site safety procedures and proper PPE use.
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual construction work, including lifting, bending, kneeling, standing, reaching, and working at
- heights when required.
- Good practical problem-solving and technical skills.
- Ability to work efficiently according to project specifications and schedules.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a construction team.
- Reliable, hardworking, disciplined, and safety-conscious.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect walls, ceilings, and other surfaces to determine the appropriate plastering, drylining, rendering, or repair requirements.
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, scraping, removing old plaster or paint, and eliminating loose or damaged materials.
- Repair cracks, holes, uneven areas, and other surface defects before applying plaster or other materials.
- Install and secure wire mesh, laths, backing materials, or other reinforcement systems where required to provide proper adhesion and structural support.
- Measure and prepare the required quantities of plaster, cement, sand, water, additives, and other materials.
- Mix plaster, cement, sand, and water to the correct consistency according to project specifications and application requirements.
- Apply smooth and uniform base coats and finish coats to walls and ceilings using trowels, hawks, floats, and other plastering tools.
- Spread plaster evenly and build surfaces to the required thickness.
- Level, straighten, and smooth walls and ceilings to achieve a consistent and professional finish.
- Form and finish corners, angles, edges, reveals, joints, and other architectural details accurately.
- Use appropriate tools and techniques to achieve smooth, textured, or decorative finishes as required.
- Measure, cut, and install interior plasterboards, wallboards, and ceiling boards according to drawings and specifications.
- Install and align plasterboard panels for walls, ceilings, partitions, and other interior surfaces.
- Cut openings in plasterboards accurately for doors, windows, electrical outlets, lighting fixtures, vents, and other installations.
- Apply jointing compounds, tape, fillers, and other materials to plasterboard joints and fastener locations.
- Sand and smooth completed plasterboard joints and surfaces to prepare them for painting or final finishing.
- Apply exterior protective coatings such as sand-cement render, pebble-dash, and other exterior rendering systems.
- Ensure exterior rendering is properly bonded, level, weather-resistant, and finished according to project requirements.
- Repair existing walls and ceilings affected by cracks, holes, moisture, leaks, impact damage, or deterioration.
- Remove damaged plaster or render and properly prepare the affected area before carrying out repairs.
- Blend repaired areas with surrounding surfaces to achieve a consistent texture, level, and appearance.
- Protect floors, windows, doors, fixtures, and surrounding surfaces from plaster, cement, dust, and other materials.
- Clean and maintain trowels, hawks, floats, mixers, sanders, cutting tools, and other plastering equipment.
- Safely operate mixers and other equipment used for plastering, rendering, and drylining work.
- Handle, transport, and store plastering materials and equipment safely.
- Minimize material waste through accurate measurement, proper mixing, and efficient application.
- Follow project drawings, specifications, work instructions, and construction schedules.
- Coordinate with builders, bricklayers, carpenters, painters, electricians, plumbers, and other trades to ensure efficient workflow.
- Follow applicable Australian construction requirements, workplace safety procedures, and health and safety regulations.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Perform other plastering, rendering, drylining, wall and ceiling finishing, repair, and construction-related duties assigned by management.
