Summit Homes Group is offering an overseas employment opportunity for an experienced Floor Finisher in Australia. The ideal candidate should have at least three years of relevant experience in preparing subfloors, measuring and installing different flooring materials, finishing timber and concrete floors, and repairing damaged flooring.

FLOOR FINISHER

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required.
• Experience preparing, cleaning, grinding, levelling, and repairing subfloors.
• Ability to read architectural plans and calculate floor measurements and material requirements.
• Experience measuring, cutting, and installing carpets, vinyl planks, linoleum, parquetry, cork tiles, timber flooring, or synthetic sports surfaces.
• Knowledge of flooring adhesives, nails, mechanical fasteners, edge trims, and doorway mouldings.
• Skills in sanding, staining, polishing, sealing, and finishing timber floors.
• Familiarity with epoxy and polyurethane coatings for timber or concrete flooring.
• Ability to repair and replace damaged flooring sections.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
• Must possess a driver’s licence and be able to drive a four-wheeled vehicle.
• Candidates must be at least graduates of a four-year undergraduate course.
• High school graduates must be willing to take the IELTS or PTE examination.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare flooring surfaces by cleaning, grinding, levelling, and repairing subfloors before installation.
• Remove existing baseboard trims, damaged flooring, and other materials as needed.
• Read architectural plans and specifications to determine flooring layouts, measurements, and installation requirements.
• Measure floor areas and estimate the quantities of materials required, allowing for cutting waste.
• Measure, cut, and install various flooring materials, including carpets, vinyl planks, linoleum, parquetry blocks, cork tiles, timber, and synthetic sports surfaces.
• Apply adhesives, nails, or mechanical fasteners to secure flooring materials properly.
• Install edge trims, doorway mouldings, and other finishing components.
• Sand, stain, polish, and seal timber floors to achieve the required finish.
• Apply epoxy, polyurethane, or other suitable coatings to timber and concrete floors.
• Repair flooring by replacing or patching damaged sections of existing surfaces.
• Inspect completed flooring to ensure proper alignment, smooth finishes, and compliance with project specifications.
• Maintain tools and equipment and follow workplace health and safety procedures.
