Health And Safety Environment Technician

Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related scientific discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in HSE, preferably in the food industry.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong communication, reporting, and training skills.
• Certifications such as NEBOSH, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, ISO 22000, BRCGS are a strong advantage.

Responsibilities:

• Health, Safety & Environmental Management:
  • Develop, maintain, and implement emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, first aid facilities, and communication protocols.
  • Conduct regular drills to evaluate the effectiveness of emergency preparedness.
  • Apply health and safety rules across all stages of work, fostering a healthy and safe company culture.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities, equipment, and processes to identify hazards or unsafe practices.
  • Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents; implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Track and report HSE KPIs (e.g., TRIR, near-miss frequency, environmental compliance scores).
  • Support regulatory compliance with civil defense, Ministry of Environment, and industrial authorities.
• Compliance & Audits:
  • Conduct risk assessments for workplace activities, machinery, equipment, and processes.
  • Implement and enforce safe work practices, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and machine safety.
  • Participate in HSE audits, third-party inspections, and certification processes.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Production teams to maintain compliance with food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., BRC, GMP, HACCP, ISO 22000).
  • Monitor waste management, chemical storage, pest control, and environmental emissions to ensure compliance.
• Training & Employee Engagement:
  • Deliver HSE training and toolbox talks on hygiene, PPE, chemical handling, and safety procedures.
  • Organize practical demonstrations on the use of safety equipment and first aid.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE and monitor environmental conditions (temperature, noise, humidity).
  • Maintenance & Equipment Oversight:
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure upkeep of safety-related equipment, firefighting systems, and factory infrastructure.
  • Conduct follow-ups on environmental tests and water treatment compliance.
  • Review HSE documents, programs, and incident trends to recommend improvements.
