BAGGAGE HANDLING TECHNICIAN (Mechanical Engineering Technician)

As a Mechanical Engineering Technician, you will support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical and automated systems used in industrial, manufacturing, airport, logistics, or processing facilities. The role is essential in ensuring equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and workplace safety standards are maintained at all times.

Qualifications:

• Must have 5 years of proven experience in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical, control, and automated systems, preferably within Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) or similar industrial environments.
• Knowledgeable in PLC fault finding, SCADA systems, AS-i Bus/Asibus networks, and related automation technologies.
• Holds a post-trade certificate in Hydraulics, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Electrical, Mechanical, or a related Engineering field is highly desirable.
• Strong supervisory background with the ability to lead maintenance teams, respond to faults and baggage jams efficiently, and ensure scheduled maintenance activities are completed to a high standard.
• Excellent computer literacy, communication skills, customer service orientation, and commitment to workplace health, safety, and company procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electromechanical equipment
• Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated systems
• Assist in the operation, testing, and repair of PLC-controlled and industrial machinery
• Conduct inspections and ensure all machinery operates safely and efficiently
• Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals
• Coordinate with supervisors and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and equipment failures
• Complete maintenance reports, service documentation, and work records accurately
• Follow Australian workplace health, safety, and quality procedures at all times
