MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of recent mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial or mining environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mechanical Technology
- Electrical Engineering
- Electrical Technology
- Industrial Engineering
- Industrial Technology
- Strong hands-on experience in industrial equipment maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.
- Experience working with a wide range of mechanical and industrial equipment.
- Proven experience in fabrication, welding, machining, and mechanical assembly.
- Proficient in TIG and MIG welding.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Good English communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to drive four-wheeled vehicles.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and technical instructions is an advantage.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team.
- Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on industrial maintenance work.
- Willingness to work in industrial environments, including scheduled shutdowns and maintenance activities.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety, equipment reliability, and quality workmanship.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance on industrial machinery and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and troubleshoot equipment breakdowns.
- Inspect machinery and equipment for wear, damage, leaks, misalignment, and other mechanical issues.
- Carry out repairs, adjustments, component replacement, and equipment servicing.
- Maintain equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Operate, maintain, and repair industrial equipment including pumps, valves, gearboxes, steam turbines, boilers, conveyors, mixers, agitators, compressors, and blowers.
- Maintain and repair heat exchangers, pressure vessels, centrifuges, fans, ovens, sorting machines, thickeners, palletizers, and other industrial equipment.
- Perform mechanical assembly, disassembly, alignment, installation, and commissioning activities as required.
- Fabricate and modify mechanical components, parts, and equipment.
- Perform TIG and MIG welding for maintenance, repair, fabrication, and modification work.
- Perform machining and finishing of industrial components when required.
- Use mechanical tools, measuring instruments, workshop equipment, and related tools safely and correctly.
- Conduct regular equipment inspections and report potential mechanical problems.
- Participate in planned maintenance programs, scheduled shutdowns, and major maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and replaced components.
- Coordinate with production and operations personnel to schedule maintenance activities and minimize operational disruptions.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures, environmental requirements, and company maintenance standards.
- Maintain tools, equipment, workshops, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Assist in improving equipment reliability, maintenance procedures, and overall operational efficiency.
- Perform other mechanical maintenance duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.
