WELDING ENGINEER
Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years of working experience as a Welding Engineer or in a related welding engineering, inspection, or fabrication position.
- Must be a Bachelor’s / College Degree holder in Engineering (Mechanical) or similar fields.
- Male applicants are preferred for this role.
- Degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Metallurgy.
- Strong knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods and weld inspection practices.
- Strong understanding of metallurgy and material science.
- Practical experience inspecting welds and evaluating weld quality and structural integrity.
- Knowledge of material testing and welding-related failure investigation.
- Ability to conduct or support failure analysis and determine the causes of welding or material failures.
- Strong understanding of welding processes, weld defects, material behavior, and welding-related problems.
- Ability to evaluate the structural strength and integrity of welded components.
- Knowledge of welding procedures, inspection requirements, technical specifications, and applicable industry standards.
- Ability to interpret welding drawings, specifications, inspection requirements, and technical documentation.
- Experience reviewing NDT reports, inspection findings, material records, and welding documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex welding and material issues.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Good communication and coordination skills when working with engineers, inspectors, welders, QA/QC personnel, and project teams.
- Ability to work independently and make sound technical judgments within assigned responsibilities.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements in welding and industrial environments.
- Reliable, disciplined, proactive, and quality-conscious.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect welded joints and components to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, welding procedures, and quality standards.
- Monitor welding activities and ensure proper welding practices are followed throughout fabrication and construction.
- Evaluate weld quality and identify defects, discontinuities, cracks, porosity, lack of fusion, lack of penetration, and other welding-related issues.
- Apply knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods to support the inspection and evaluation of welds and materials.
- Coordinate and assist with NDT activities such as visual inspection and other applicable examination methods.
- Review NDT results and inspection findings and identify potential weld or material defects.
- Inspect and test materials used in welding and fabrication to verify their suitability and integrity.
- Apply strong knowledge of metallurgy and material science when evaluating welding processes, materials, and defects.
- Analyze the effects of welding processes, heat input, material properties, and welding conditions on weld quality and structural integrity.
- Conduct or support failure analysis to determine the causes of weld or material failures.
- Evaluate the structural strength and integrity of welded components based on inspection and testing results.
- Investigate welding defects, material failures, and recurring quality problems and recommend corrective actions.
- Review welding procedures and technical documentation to ensure compliance with project and industry requirements.
- Coordinate with welders, welding inspectors, QA/QC personnel, engineers, and project teams regarding welding quality and technical requirements.
- Verify that welding activities follow approved procedures, specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
- Monitor welding parameters and practices that may affect weld quality and material performance.
- Assist in determining appropriate welding and inspection requirements for different materials and applications.
- Review material certificates, welding records, inspection reports, and NDT documentation when required.
- Maintain accurate records of weld inspections, testing results, defects, repairs, and corrective actions.
- Monitor weld repairs and verify that repaired areas meet required quality and inspection standards.
- Analyze inspection and testing data to identify trends, recurring defects, and potential quality issues.
- Recommend improvements to welding procedures and practices to improve quality, reliability, and productivity.
- Support quality assurance and quality control activities related to welding and fabrication.
- Ensure welding inspection activities are properly documented and traceable.
- Coordinate with third-party inspectors or testing personnel when required for specialized inspection activities.
- Promote safe working practices during welding, inspection, testing, and fabrication operations.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.
- Maintain professional communication with project management, engineering, fabrication, and inspection teams.
- Perform other welding engineering, inspection, testing, and technical duties assigned by management.
