STRUCTURAL WELDER
Qualifications:
- Open to male and female applicants.
- Must be 24 to 45 years old.
- Must have practical experience in GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding).
- Must have welding experience in structural steel fabrication or shipbuilding.
- Pipe welders are not eligible for this position.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, supported by sufficient employment documents.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
- Must have completed at least 1 year of college or vocational education.
- Must have strong practical knowledge of structural steel welding and fabrication.
- Must be physically capable of performing welding and fabrication work in an industrial environment.
- Must be safety-conscious, reliable, and able to follow technical instructions and workplace procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Perform GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) on structural steel components and assemblies.
- Read and interpret welding drawings, fabrication plans, measurements, and specifications.
- Prepare, fit, align, and weld structural steel components according to required specifications.
- Perform welding on structural steel used in fabrication, construction, and shipbuilding applications.
- Inspect welded joints and finished work for proper alignment, quality, and workmanship.
- Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning, grinding, cutting, and removing contaminants before welding.
- Set up and operate welding machines, tools, and related equipment safely.
- Select and use appropriate welding processes, materials, settings, and techniques for assigned work.
- Identify welding defects and perform necessary repairs or corrective welding.
- Maintain welding tools and equipment in safe and serviceable condition.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures, PPE requirements, and welding safety standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Work effectively with fabricators, fitters, welders, supervisors, and other tradespeople.
- Complete assigned fabrication and welding tasks according to project requirements and schedules.
