Michishitagumi Co. Ltd. is hiring qualified Shipyard Welders under Japan’s Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) program. The role involves performing welding and metal fabrication work on ship structures, ensuring strong, high-quality joints that meet strict shipbuilding and marine engineering standards.

SHIPYARD WELDER (SSW)

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed a 3 to 5-year Technical Intern Training Program (TITP) in Japan in the same position (Shipyard Welder).
  • Must have passed Level 3 or the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) Skills Test.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing heavy industrial work.
  • Willing to work in shipyard environments, including confined and elevated spaces.
  • Strong understanding of welding processes and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform welding work on ship hulls, structures, and metal components using various welding techniques.
  • Read and interpret welding symbols, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Prepare metal surfaces for welding through cutting, grinding, and alignment.
  • Inspect welds to ensure structural integrity and compliance with quality standards.
  • Perform repairs and reinforcement of damaged or worn ship components.
  • Operate welding equipment safely and maintain welding tools and machines.
  • Follow strict safety procedures, especially in confined spaces and elevated work areas.
  • Coordinate with other shipyard workers to complete fabrication and assembly tasks.
