The Senior Accountant ensures the accuracy, timeliness, and continuous improvement of financial reports across the Group’s entities, including Palm Springs Estate, Palm Beach Hotel, Palm Business & Trade Centre, Palm Malinamoc Hotel, Palm Springs Hotel Dili, Tjing Fa Ho Lda, Everise Warehousing & Transportation, and Jack’s Restaurant. This role works closely with the Group Financial Controller and Group Operating Officer to drive financial performance improvements, assist in delivering commercial projects, and meet the reporting needs of senior management.
Senior Accountant
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
- 8–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with substantial exposure to general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end/year-end closing processes.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
- Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
- Produce error-free accounting/financial reports and present their results.
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
- Compile and analyze Group financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions.
- Summarize financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other documents.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist with preparing and monitoring budgets.
- Participate in financial standards setting and forecasting processes.
- Prepare financial statements and produce budgets according to schedule.
Tax and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with tax legislation by assisting in the submission of timely and accurate tax returns.
- Interpret regulations and accounting policies and procedures from local agencies (Ministry of Finance Tax Authority and other agencies).
- Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
- Prepare tax returns and corporate requirements.
Financial Management:
- Monitor cash and report to the Group Operating Officer on expected cash positions.
- Review bank reconciliations and other accounts on a monthly basis; resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
- Protect the company’s value by keeping information confidential.
Systems and Process Improvement:
- Assist in the development and implementation of the accounting system to ensure the accuracy and completeness of accounting and related system reports.
- Conduct research to prepare recommendations for improvements, controls, new methods, and other changes to improve the efficiency of accounting systems.
- Recommend, develop, and maintain financial databases, computer software systems, and manual filing systems.
- Act as an administrator of MYOB Enterprise accounting software to secure financial information.
Team Leadership:
- Train, manage, and support accountants.
- Guide junior staff assigned in Group Treasury, Group Payroll, Group Billing & Group Cashiering by coordinating activities, answering questions, and explaining accounting policies.
- Supervise their input and handling of financial data and reports for the company’s automated financial systems.
Other Duties:
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Liaise with the Group Management Accountant to improve financial procedures.
- Perform other ad hoc duties as required.
Requirements:
- Must have a valid passport for more than 3 years
- Employment certificates
- NBI clearance valid for at least 1 year with “no derogatory / no record on file” remarks
- PEOS certificate
