ROOF PLUMBER
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of working experience as a Roof Plumber or in a related roofing, roof plumbing, or drainage position.
- Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in a relevant or similar field.
- Must have a valid passport.
- Must have relevant work experience in the same field.
- Practical experience installing and maintaining gutters, downpipes, roof drainage systems, and rainwater collection systems.
- Experience installing and repairing roof flashings around vents, skylights, chimneys, joints, valleys, and other roof penetrations.
- Knowledge of installing metal roof sheeting, wall cladding, and composite roofing systems.
- Skilled in measuring, cutting, fitting, securing, and sealing roofing and cladding materials.
- Knowledge of waterproofing membranes, sealants, coatings, and other weatherproofing materials.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, roof plans, building specifications, and installation instructions.
- Ability to diagnose and repair roof leaks, blocked drainage systems, damaged gutters, and defective flashings.
- Familiarity with proper roof drainage, water-flow, sealing, and waterproofing practices.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other roofing and plumbing equipment.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety procedures, including working at heights and fall protection.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Physically fit and capable of climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and performing manual work at heights.
- Good practical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, hardworking, disciplined, and safety-conscious.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret technical drawings, roof plans, building specifications, and work instructions to determine required materials, measurements, layouts, and installation methods.
- Inspect roofs, gutters, drainage systems, flashings, and other components to identify leaks, damage, blockages, and areas requiring repair or replacement.
- Measure and mark roof surfaces and drainage layouts accurately before installation.
- Install gutters, downpipes, rainwater outlets, and other roof drainage systems to safely direct rainwater away from buildings.
- Install and connect rainwater tanks and associated drainage components according to project requirements.
- Ensure gutters and downpipes are correctly positioned, aligned, securely fastened, and properly graded for effective water flow.
- Install, repair, and replace roof flashings around joints, roof penetrations, vents, skylights, chimneys, valleys, and other vulnerable areas.
- Apply appropriate sealants, waterproofing compounds, membranes, and protective coatings to prevent water penetration and roof leaks.
- Install metallic roof sheeting, metal roof cladding, wall cladding, and composite roof systems according to drawings and manufacturer specifications.
- Measure, cut, shape, and fit roofing sheets and cladding materials accurately around edges, corners, penetrations, and roof structures.
- Secure roof sheeting, cladding, flashings, and related components using appropriate fasteners, fixings, and installation methods.
- Ensure overlaps, joints, seams, and penetrations are properly sealed to provide effective weatherproofing.
- Clear blocked gutters, downpipes, roof drains, and other drainage components to restore proper water flow.
- Repair damaged or leaking gutters, downpipes, flashings, roof sheets, and waterproofing systems.
- Remove and replace deteriorated or damaged roofing and drainage components when required.
- Conduct water-flow and leak checks to verify that completed drainage and waterproofing work is effective.
- Inspect finished work for proper alignment, secure fastening, effective drainage, weatherproofing, and overall workmanship.
- Identify defects or installation issues and carry out necessary adjustments, repairs, or corrective work.
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment, measuring instruments, ladders, scaffolding, and other roofing equipment.
- Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and work areas in clean and serviceable condition.
- Handle and store roofing materials, sealants, membranes, coatings, and other supplies safely.
- Coordinate with roofers, builders, plumbers, carpenters, electricians, supervisors, and other trades to ensure smooth project execution.
- Follow project schedules and complete assigned roof plumbing and cladding work within required timeframes.
- Follow applicable Australian building requirements, plumbing standards, site procedures, and workplace safety regulations.
- Follow proper working-at-heights procedures and use required fall-protection equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and promptly report hazards, structural concerns, leaks, or damaged equipment to the supervisor.
- Perform other roof plumbing, drainage, cladding, waterproofing, maintenance, and repair duties assigned by management.
