MIG/ MAG WELDER
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience is required.
- No minimum educational attainment is required for this position.
- Proven experience as a MIG/MAG Welder in industrial, manufacturing, fabrication, construction, or similar environments.
- Experienced in welding steel, aluminum, and other metal materials.
- Skilled in operating MIG/MAG welding machines, welding tools, and related equipment.
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques, machine settings, welding parameters, and material preparation.
- Ability to read and understand welding drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Ability to accurately prepare, fit, align, and weld metal components and structures.
- Good knowledge of weld inspection, defect identification, grinding, cleaning, and finishing techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety procedures and proper use of PPE.
- Physically capable of performing welding work for extended periods and working in various positions and environments.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable, hardworking, adaptable, and committed to meeting production and quality requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Perform MIG/MAG welding on metal parts, components, assemblies, and structures according to specifications and work instructions.
- Prepare, fit, align, and position metal materials before welding.
- Read and interpret welding drawings, technical specifications, measurements, and work instructions.
- Set up, operate, and adjust MIG/MAG welding machines and related equipment according to material and welding requirements.
- Select appropriate welding parameters, wire, shielding gas, and equipment settings for different materials and applications.
- Weld steel, aluminum, and other metal materials using appropriate MIG/MAG welding techniques.
- Inspect materials and workpieces before welding to ensure proper preparation and alignment.
- Perform tack welding and final welding while maintaining proper weld size, penetration, alignment, and appearance.
- Grind, clean, and prepare welded surfaces as required.
- Inspect completed welds for cracks, porosity, undercut, incomplete fusion, and other defects.
- Repair defective welds and perform necessary finishing work to meet quality requirements.
- Use welding tools, grinders, measuring instruments, clamps, and other fabrication equipment safely and correctly.
- Maintain welding machines, tools, and equipment in good working condition.
- Follow approved welding procedures, workplace safety rules, and required PPE practices.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly handle welding materials and waste.
- Coordinate with fabricators, fitters, supervisors, and other production personnel to ensure efficient workflow.
- Report equipment problems, material defects, or welding issues to the appropriate supervisor.
- Complete assigned welding work within required production schedules while maintaining quality standards.
- Perform other related welding and fabrication duties as assigned by management.
