IRRIGATION TECHNICIAN
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of working experience is required.
- Candidates must be at least a High School Graduate.
- Must have a Professional Driver’s License.
- Previous experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing irrigation or sprinkler systems.
- Practical knowledge of irrigation pipes, fittings, valves, sprinkler heads, pumps, and backflow preventers.
- Ability to cut, position, join, and install irrigation pipes accurately.
- Ability to test, adjust, and troubleshoot sprinkler systems to achieve proper water coverage and system performance.
- Knowledge of basic irrigation system maintenance, water flow, pressure, and distribution.
- Ability to diagnose common irrigation problems and perform appropriate repairs or adjustments.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and irrigation equipment.
- Good understanding of workplace safety and proper handling of tools and equipment.
- Physically fit and capable of performing outdoor work, including lifting, bending, digging, and working in varying weather conditions.
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow installation and maintenance instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Responsible, hardworking, reliable, and safety-conscious.
Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair irrigation and sprinkler systems for residential, commercial, and landscaped areas.
- Assemble and install irrigation system components according to approved layouts and installation requirements.
- Conduct soil and vegetation tests to assess irrigation and watering requirements.
- Inspect existing irrigation systems to identify leaks, damaged components, blockages, pressure problems, and other issues.
- Diagnose irrigation system faults and determine appropriate repair or adjustment procedures.
- Test and adjust sprinkler systems to ensure proper coverage, water distribution, pressure, and operating performance.
- Cut, measure, position, and join irrigation pipes according to installation requirements.
- Assemble and install pumps, valves, sprinkler heads, fittings, backflow preventers, and other irrigation components.
- Connect and secure pipes, fittings, valves, and related components to prevent leaks and ensure reliable operation.
- Check irrigation system pressure and water flow and make necessary adjustments.
- Adjust sprinkler heads and irrigation zones to provide efficient and uniform watering.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on irrigation systems and equipment.
- Repair or replace damaged pipes, sprinkler heads, valves, pumps, fittings, and other system components.
- Inspect irrigation installations after completion and correct any identified defects or performance issues.
- Use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and irrigation-specific tools safely and correctly.
- Follow proper procedures when working with pumps, water lines, valves, and pressurized irrigation systems.
- Maintain accurate records of completed installations, repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities when required.
- Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and work areas in clean, organized, and serviceable condition.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Coordinate with supervisors, landscapers, clients, and other workers to ensure irrigation work is completed efficiently.
- Perform other irrigation installation, maintenance, and repair duties as assigned.
