Working International Resourcing Limited is seeking experienced Geomembrane Welders / Liner Installation Technicians for an overseas work opportunity in New Zealand. The successful candidate will perform HDPE and LLDPE geomembrane welding, liner installation, seam testing, and quality assurance activities for industrial and civil engineering projects.
Geomembrane Welder / Liner Installation Technician
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in HDPE and LLDPE liner welding.
- Proven experience using extrusion welders and wedge/fusion welders.
- Confident operating extrusion welders, wedge/fusion welders, and hot air tools.
- Experience using Leister extrusion welders.
- Experience using Leister or Munsch hot wedge fusion welding machines, including dual-track systems.
- Experience using Leister hot air welders for detail and repair work.
- Skilled in operating air-pressure testing equipment for dual-track seam testing.
- Experience using vacuum box testing equipment, spark testers, and other QA testing tools.
- Experience installing geotextiles, geocomposites, and geomembrane panels.
- Skilled in handling and deploying liner rolls and preparing geomembrane seams.
- Experience forming details around penetrations, sumps, anchor trenches, and other structures.
- Experience assisting with anchor trench excavation and backfilling.
- Able to carry out daily trial welds and maintain accurate welding records.
- Ability to complete weld logs, panel layout drawings, and as-built documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good understanding of geomembrane installation, welding, and seam-testing procedures.
- Ability to work safely outdoors and in demanding construction environments.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Able to work independently when required.
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual installation and welding duties
Responsibilities:
- Install and weld HDPE and LLDPE geomembrane liners according to project specifications and approved procedures.
- Operate extrusion welders, hot wedge/fusion welders, and hot air welding equipment.
- Use Leister extrusion welders for extrusion welding applications.
- Operate Leister or Munsch hot wedge fusion welding machines, including dual-track systems.
- Use Leister hot air welders for detail work, repairs, and difficult-to-access areas.
- Handle, position, deploy, and secure geomembrane liner rolls and panels.
- Install geotextiles, geocomposites, geomembranes, and related liner materials.
- Prepare liner seams and surfaces for welding.
- Weld seams accurately while maintaining required welding parameters and quality standards.
- Form and weld details around penetrations, sumps, anchor trenches, corners, and other structures.
- Assist with anchor trench preparation, excavation, placement, and backfilling activities.
- Conduct daily trial welds before production welding operations.
- Perform seam inspections and identify welding defects or areas requiring repair.
- Conduct air pressure testing of dual-track seams.
- Perform vacuum box testing and spark testing as required.
- Use appropriate QA testing equipment to verify seam integrity.
- Repair defective or damaged welds according to approved procedures.
- Complete accurate weld logs, panel layout drawings, and as-built records.
- Maintain daily records of welding activities, testing results, materials, and completed sections.
- Follow project specifications, quality-control requirements, and workplace health and safety procedures.
- Maintain welding machines, tools, and testing equipment in proper working condition.
- Work closely with supervisors, engineers, surveyors, and installation crews to complete projects efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Perform other geomembrane installation and welding duties assigned by management.
