FARM MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 recent years of experience working in an animal farm.
  • Skilled in welding, fabrication, plumbing, and basic carpentry.
  • Able to troubleshoot and repair motors, pumps, fans, feeders, water systems, and farm machinery.
  • Proficient in safely operating hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment.
  • Graduate of a technical course in Mechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, Agricultural Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Practical mechanical and maintenance skills.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing manual work in a farm environment.
  • Safety-conscious and able to follow technical instructions and workplace procedures.
  • Reliable, hardworking, and able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance of animal farm facilities, equipment, and machinery.
  • Inspect farm systems and equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural problems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair motors, pumps, fans, feeders, water systems, and farm machinery.
  • Perform welding and metal fabrication for farm structures, equipment, and components.
  • Carry out basic plumbing repairs and maintenance of farm water systems.
  • Perform basic carpentry work and repairs to farm buildings, structures, and facilities.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and workshop machinery.
  • Conduct equipment inspections and report faults or maintenance requirements.
  • Assist with installation, adjustment, and maintenance of farm machinery and systems.
  • Ensure farm equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
  • Carry out repairs promptly to minimize equipment downtime and disruption to farm operations.
  • Maintain workshop areas, tools, equipment, and workspaces in a clean and organized condition.
  • Follow workplace health and safety procedures and proper equipment-handling practices.
  • Maintain basic records of maintenance activities and repairs when required.
  • Coordinate with farm supervisors and other workers regarding maintenance requirements.
  • Perform other technical and maintenance duties assigned by management.
