EV TECHNICIAN (ELECTRIC VEHICLES)

Qualifications:

• Preferred age range: 25–39 years old, as stated in the supplied vacancy information.
• Must be a certified EV Technician and provide proof of certification.
• Knowledge of scanner diagnostics and onboard diagnostics (OBD) testing.
• Ability to read and interpret diagnostic trouble codes and perform systematic diagnostic procedures.
• Must hold a Don Bosco certification, National Vocational Qualification (NVQ), or equivalent qualification, as specified by the employer.
• Experience working at a main automotive dealership is preferred.
• Specialized knowledge of electric vehicle diagnostic procedures and systems.
• Ability to follow technical instructions, manufacturer procedures, and high-voltage safety requirements.
• General auto mechanics with experience limited to conventional vehicle repairs are not qualified for this position.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose electrical and electronic faults in electric vehicles using specialized diagnostic scanners and equipment.
• Perform OBD testing, retrieve diagnostic trouble codes, and interpret diagnostic data.
• Conduct systematic diagnostic procedures to identify faults and determine appropriate repair solutions.
• Inspect EV electrical and electronic systems and related components according to manufacturer procedures.
• Perform maintenance and repairs within the scope of EV technician training and certification.
• Identify potential issues affecting vehicle performance, safety, and reliability.
• Use manufacturer diagnostic tools and technical information to support accurate troubleshooting.
• Document diagnostic results, identified faults, completed repairs, and recommended follow-up work.
• Conduct functional checks after servicing or repairs to confirm that systems operate correctly.
• Follow manufacturer guidelines, workshop procedures, and occupational health and safety requirements.
• Observe appropriate high-voltage safety procedures when working with electric vehicle systems.
