Cook (Catering)

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience as a Cook is required.
  • Strong experience in catering and bulk cooking is required.
  • Candidates with 7 years or more of cooking experience are highly preferred.
  • Must have proven experience preparing meals for 50 persons or more.
  • Candidates must be a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Culinary Arts, Food Preparation, or a related field.
  • Good knowledge of large-scale food preparation and catering operations.
  • Able to work efficiently in a high-volume commercial or institutional kitchen.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, proper food storage, and kitchen hygiene.
  • Able to operate commercial cooking equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple food preparation tasks.
  • Must have a valid passport.
  • Must be able to speak and understand English.
  • Physically fit and capable of working long hours in a demanding kitchen environment.
  • Male applicants are preferred for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook a variety of meals and dishes for large-scale catering operations.
  • Handle bulk food preparation and cooking for groups of 50 persons or more.
  • Plan and organize food preparation according to daily catering requirements and meal schedules.
  • Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, portioning, marinating, and measuring as required.
  • Ensure food is cooked properly, safely, and according to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Maintain consistent taste, presentation, portion size, and food quality during bulk production.
  • Monitor cooking temperatures, cooking times, and food holding conditions.
  • Operate and properly maintain commercial kitchen equipment and cooking utensils.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and rotation of food ingredients and supplies.
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and workplace safety procedures at all times.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, cooking equipment, workstations, and food preparation areas.
  • Coordinate with catering supervisors and other kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared and served on schedule.
  • Monitor ingredient usage and minimize food waste during preparation and cooking.
  • Assist with menu preparation and adjustments based on catering requirements.
  • Ensure sufficient quantities of food are prepared to meet the number of guests or workers being served.
  • Perform other kitchen and catering-related duties as assigned.
