The Conventional/Manual Horizontal Milling Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining horizontal boring and milling machines to machine metal parts according to engineering specifications and technical drawings. The position requires precision machining skills, the ability to interpret engineering drawings, and experience working with mechanical measuring instruments.
Conventional/Manual Horizontal Milling Machine
Qualifications:
- Graduate of a Technical Secondary School in Mechanical Engineering or related field; or
Holder of a University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification. - Minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience in a similar position.
- Strong knowledge of reading and interpreting engineering and mechanical drawing documentation.
- Experience in operating conventional/manual horizontal milling or boring machines.
- Familiarity with machining processes, cutting tools, fixtures, and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to work independently and maintain high-quality workmanship.
Responsibilities:
- Clamp and secure workpieces on machine tables using appropriate fixtures and mounting devices according to the shape and dimensions of the part.
- Set and adjust machining parameters including feed rates, spindle speeds, cutting angles, and machine rotations.
- Machine and process components of various sizes and configurations, including containers, frames, plates, castings, weldments, and other metal structures.
- Perform boring, milling, drilling, and surface machining operations on rotating and flat surfaces.
- Operate conventional horizontal boring machines such as W100 or W100A models.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, technical specifications, and work instructions.
- Use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, scales, and gauges to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Conduct routine machine inspections and maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Follow company safety procedures and quality standards during machining operations.
