Conventional Lathe Operator

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a Technical Secondary School in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; or
    Holder of a University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience as a Conventional Lathe Operator.
  • Required knowledge and ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience in operating conventional lathe machines and machining metal components.
  • Knowledge of precision measuring instruments and machining techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up the conventional lathe machine, cutting tools, and measuring instruments before starting machining operations.
  • Prepare and adjust turning tools and machine accessories to ensure proper machining conditions.
  • Perform turning operations according to work procedures, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Machine circular and cylindrical components such as shafts, pins, bushings, threaded parts, and other precision metal components.
  • Produce external and internal threads, smooth surfaces, and accurately dimensioned workpieces.
  • Monitor the condition and level of coolant during machining operations and replenish it when necessary.
  • Inspect finished workpieces using precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with dimensional and quality requirements.
  • Utilize mechanical tables, calipers, micrometers, assembly tools, and gauges for machine setup and quality inspection.
  • Operate conventional lathe machines such as SU50A and V18RA models.
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and proper maintenance of machines and work areas.
  • Follow company safety procedures, quality standards, and production requirements.
