Conventional Lathe Machine Operator (Metal Worker)

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience.
• High School Graduate.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience operating a conventional/manual lathe machine.
• Skilled in operating manually controlled conventional lathes for metalworking and component production.
• Able to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Skilled in measuring manufactured parts and performing quality inspections.
• Knowledgeable in turning, threading, and drilling operations.
• Knowledge of proper workpiece clamping, alignment, feed-rate selection, and cutting conditions.
• Familiarity with measuring tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instruments.
• Good attention to detail and ability to work accurately according to specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Physically fit and able to handle materials and components required for production operations, including loads of up to 20 kg.
• Able to follow technological procedures, technical instructions, and workplace safety requirements.
• Reliable, hardworking, detail-oriented, and capable of working effectively in a metalworking production environment.

Responsibilities:

• Operate conventional/manual lathe machines to manufacture and finish metal components.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, dimensions, and machining specifications.
• Review work orders and production instructions before starting machining operations.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, speeds, feeds, and cutting conditions based on the material and required operation.
• Properly clamp, secure, and align workpieces on the lathe machine.
• Perform turning operations to achieve specified dimensions, shapes, and surface finishes.
• Perform threading operations according to required thread specifications and dimensions.
• Perform drilling and related machining operations using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Set up the lathe machine and adjust tooling and operating parameters as necessary.
• Measure manufactured parts using appropriate measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision tools.
• Inspect finished and semi-finished components to verify conformity with technical drawings and production specifications.
• Identify dimensional deviations, machining defects, or surface-quality issues and make necessary adjustments.
• Perform deburring, finishing, and other secondary machining tasks when required.
• Monitor machining operations to ensure consistent quality and accurate production.
• Maintain proper coolant, lubrication, and general operating conditions of the lathe machine.
• Perform basic cleaning and routine maintenance of machines, tools, and work areas.
• Replace or adjust cutting tools when they become worn or unsuitable for production.
• Handle metal materials, workpieces, and finished components safely, including loads of up to 20 kg.
• Follow technological procedures, production schedules, and quality-control requirements.
• Maintain accurate and organized work practices and report production or equipment issues to the supervisor.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Perform other machining, metalworking, and production duties assigned by management.
