INFRASTRUCTURE CONSTRUCTION WORKER

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in infrastructure construction, particularly on highways, roads, bridges, or similar projects.
  • Practical experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Carpentry, including timber structures and formwork.
    • Reinforcement steel fixing (rebar works).
    • Concrete construction and related site activities.
  • Knowledge of assembling, installing, and dismantling formwork, shoring, and load-bearing structures.
  • Ability to understand and follow construction drawings, measurements, technical instructions, and site specifications.
  • Competent in using basic construction tools and equipment safely.
  • Physically fit and able to perform demanding manual construction work without health restrictions that prevent the safe performance of assigned duties.
  • Good English communication skills for understanding instructions and coordinating with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a construction team.
  • Strong awareness of construction site safety procedures and proper use of PPE.
  • Good attention to detail, particularly in measurements, alignment, reinforcement placement, and formwork assembly.
  • Reliable, hardworking, disciplined, and able to follow instructions.
  • Willing to work outdoors and in varying construction site conditions as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform manual construction work on infrastructure and structural projects, including roads, highways, bridges, and related structures.
  • Assist with the construction, installation, and maintenance of infrastructure components using timber, concrete, steel reinforcement, and other construction materials.
  • Carry out carpentry work involving timber structures, temporary supports, and formwork.
  • Assemble, install, adjust, and dismantle formwork for concrete foundations, walls, columns, beams, and other structural elements.
  • Install and secure shoring, scaffolding supports, and load-bearing structures according to project requirements and safety procedures.
  • Perform rebar fixing by cutting, bending, positioning, tying, and securing reinforcement steel according to construction drawings and instructions.
  • Assist with concrete works, including preparation, placement, leveling, compaction, and finishing.
  • Prepare construction areas by clearing debris, arranging materials, and ensuring work surfaces are ready for construction activities.
  • Measure, mark, and align construction materials according to technical drawings and specifications.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and construction equipment safely and correctly.
  • Assist with the loading, unloading, carrying, and positioning of construction materials.
  • Check formwork, reinforcement bars, and structural components for proper alignment and stability before concrete placement.
  • Follow instructions from site supervisors, engineers, foremen, and other authorized personnel.
  • Coordinate with carpenters, steel fixers, concrete workers, and other construction team members to complete assigned tasks.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe construction work areas.
  • Follow workplace health and safety requirements, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, damaged tools, defective materials, and construction concerns to the supervisor.
