Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience is required.
- Candidates must be a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Hospitality/Tourism Management or similar fields.
- Proven experience as a Chef or in a similar professional kitchen position.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, menu planning, and kitchen operations.
- Ability to prepare and cook menu items consistently according to established standards.
- Good understanding of ingredient selection, portion control, food quality, and presentation.
- Ability to plan menus while considering budget and availability of seasonal ingredients.
- Demonstrated ability to train, guide, and supervise kitchen staff in food preparation and cooking procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high food quality.
- Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and proper food handling practices.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Good teamwork, communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Reliable, hardworking, disciplined, and willing to work flexible schedules as required.
- Male applicants are preferred for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a variety of food items according to established recipes, menu specifications, and quality standards.
- Ensure that all food is of excellent quality and served in a timely and professional manner.
- Plan and develop menus while considering the available budget, customer preferences, and seasonal ingredients.
- Select and use fresh, high-quality ingredients appropriate for menu preparation.
- Monitor food preparation and cooking processes to ensure consistency in taste, quality, portion size, and presentation.
- Train and guide kitchen staff in the proper preparation and cooking of all menu items.
- Demonstrate correct cooking techniques and ensure that kitchen staff follow established recipes and procedures.
- Organize daily kitchen activities and ensure that all required ingredients and equipment are ready before service.
- Prepare mise en place and ensure ingredients are properly portioned, stored, and available for service.
- Monitor cooking times, temperatures, seasoning, and presentation to maintain consistent food quality.
- Coordinate with kitchen and service staff to ensure smooth and timely food service.
- Maintain proper food handling, hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
- Ensure that kitchen work areas, cooking equipment, utensils, and storage areas are kept clean and organized.
- Monitor ingredient usage and help control food costs by minimizing waste and maintaining proper portion control.
- Check the freshness and quality of food ingredients before preparation and service.
- Assist with inventory monitoring and communicate ingredient requirements to management.
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of food products and prepared ingredients.
- Address food preparation or quality issues promptly and make necessary adjustments.
- Maintain a professional and organized kitchen environment during busy service periods.
- Follow company policies, kitchen procedures, food safety regulations, and other workplace requirements.
- Perform other culinary and kitchen-related duties assigned by management.
