CHEF DE PARTIE
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Culinary Arts or relevant culinary certifications.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Chef de Partie or in a similar kitchen position.
- Good knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations.
- Proven experience working in a professional restaurant, hotel, catering operation, or similar kitchen environment.
- Strong ability to prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards.
- Good knowledge of mise en place, portion control, food preparation, and kitchen organization.
- Strong understanding of food quality, presentation, hygiene, sanitation, and safe food handling.
- Able to manage and maintain an assigned kitchen section efficiently.
- Good teamwork and communication skills when coordinating with chefs, kitchen staff, and service personnel.
- Able to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistent food quality and presentation.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of proper food storage, stock rotation, and waste-control procedures.
- Able to safely operate common professional kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Reliable, disciplined, hardworking, and able to follow instructions and established kitchen procedures.
- Willing to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and extended hours when required.
- Physically fit and capable of standing for extended periods and performing demanding kitchen duties.
Responsibilities:
- Take responsibility for the daily operation of an assigned kitchen section.
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes according to approved recipes and kitchen standards.
- Complete daily mise en place and ensure all ingredients are prepared before service.
- Monitor food preparation and cooking processes to ensure proper techniques and consistent results.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, texture, portion size, and presentation.
- Ensure ingredients are fresh, properly prepared, stored, labeled, and handled.
- Follow established recipes, cooking methods, portion specifications, and plating standards.
- Coordinate with the Sous Chef and other kitchen sections to ensure timely food preparation and service.
- Assist with menu preparation and production planning when required.
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and notify the Sous Chef of shortages or replenishment requirements.
- Apply proper stock rotation and storage procedures to maintain freshness and minimize food waste.
- Maintain proper food hygiene, sanitation, and safe food-handling practices at all times.
- Monitor food temperatures and ensure ingredients and prepared food are stored at appropriate conditions.
- Keep the assigned workstation, cooking equipment, utensils, and preparation areas clean and organized.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and report equipment faults or maintenance requirements.
- Assist in training and guiding Commis Chefs, kitchen assistants, and junior staff assigned to the section.
- Ensure junior kitchen staff follow recipes, preparation procedures, hygiene standards, and safety requirements.
- Assist the kitchen team during busy service periods and handle multiple food orders efficiently.
- Maintain consistent production and quality standards during high-volume service.
- Assist with receiving, checking, and properly storing food deliveries when required.
- Help control food costs through accurate portioning, proper preparation, and waste reduction.
- Report food quality issues, equipment problems, shortages, or other operational concerns to the Sous Chef.
- Follow company policies, kitchen procedures, health regulations, and workplace safety requirements.
