CIVIL WORKS SUPERVISOR
Qualifications:
- Must have sufficient experience in hot-mix asphalt pavement works.
- Proven experience supervising or leading asphalt paving and civil construction activities.
- Strong knowledge of hot-mix asphalt placement, spreading, leveling, and compaction.
- Experienced in site preparation, sub-grade conditioning, and pavement construction.
- Knowledge of asphalt paving equipment, including pavers, rollers, compactors, and related machinery.
- Able to monitor asphalt temperature, placement conditions, pavement thickness, and compaction quality.
- Able to read and understand civil construction drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Strong ability to supervise workers and coordinate daily site activities.
- Good understanding of pavement quality control and proper construction practices.
- Able to identify construction defects and take appropriate corrective action.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and coordination skills when working with engineers, workers, contractors, and project management.
- Able to work effectively in an outdoor construction environment and under changing weather conditions.
- Physically fit and capable of spending extended periods on an active construction site.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, productivity, and project schedules.
- Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently while leading a site team.
- Willing to follow company policies, project specifications, construction procedures, and safety requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage daily on-site hot-mix asphalt paving operations.
- Supervise site preparation activities before asphalt placement.
- Oversee sub-grade conditioning to ensure the pavement foundation is properly prepared.
- Coordinate the delivery, handling, and availability of asphalt materials at the work site.
- Monitor hot-mix asphalt production, transportation, delivery, placement, and compaction activities.
- Ensure asphalt is placed according to approved project specifications, drawings, and required thicknesses.
- Supervise paving crews, equipment operators, laborers, and other site personnel.
- Coordinate the proper sequence of paving activities to maintain efficient workflow and productivity.
- Monitor asphalt temperature and placement conditions to support proper compaction and pavement quality.
- Oversee the operation and proper use of pavers, rollers, compactors, and other paving equipment.
- Ensure proper rolling patterns and compaction procedures are followed.
- Check pavement levels, alignment, thickness, surface uniformity, and overall workmanship.
- Monitor joints, edges, transitions, and other critical pavement areas for proper finishing.
- Identify and address construction issues, uneven surfaces, inadequate compaction, or other paving defects.
- Coordinate with engineers, surveyors, project managers, subcontractors, and other site personnel.
- Review work progress and provide daily updates, measurements, and site reports as required.
- Ensure materials and completed works meet project quality requirements and specifications.
- Monitor productivity, manpower, materials, and equipment utilization on site.
- Ensure work areas remain organized and that paving activities are conducted safely and efficiently.
- Implement proper traffic and work-zone safety procedures during paving operations.
- Ensure workers use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow site safety regulations.
- Conduct or participate in toolbox meetings, site briefings, and safety inspections.
- Report equipment breakdowns, material shortages, delays, hazards, and other site concerns to management.
- Assist in resolving technical and operational issues to keep paving activities on schedule.
