SOUS CHEF

Qualifications:

• Diploma or degree in Culinary Arts or relevant culinary certifications.
• Minimum 3–5 years of professional kitchen experience.
• Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen operations.
• Proven experience working in a professional restaurant, hotel, catering operation, or similar kitchen environment.
• Strong ability to prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards.
• Good understanding of food presentation, portion control, ingredient handling, and kitchen organization.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and proper food storage practices.
• Strong leadership and team-management skills with the ability to supervise and motivate kitchen staff.
• Able to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced professional kitchen.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality and consistency.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Chef and other kitchen and service personnel.
• Reliable, disciplined, hardworking, and willing to take responsibility for kitchen operations.
• Flexible to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and extended hours when required.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physically fit and capable of standing for extended periods and performing demanding kitchen duties.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Head Chef in managing the day-to-day kitchen operations.
• Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff during food preparation and service.
• Prepare, cook, and present food according to established recipes and quality standards.
• Ensure consistent taste, portion sizes, presentation, and food quality.
• Assist in planning daily menus, preparation requirements, and kitchen production.
• Organize and supervise daily mise en place before service.
• Monitor food preparation and cooking techniques to ensure proper execution.
• Ensure ingredients are properly prepared, stored, labeled, and handled.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and receiving food supplies.
• Apply proper stock rotation and minimize food waste through effective portion control.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, sanitation, and safe food handling.
• Ensure kitchen equipment, utensils, workstations, and preparation areas are clean and properly maintained.
• Monitor cooking temperatures and food storage conditions.
• Assist in controlling food costs and maintaining efficient kitchen operations.
• Check the freshness and quality of ingredients before use.
• Train, guide, and support junior kitchen staff in proper cooking and preparation techniques.
• Delegate kitchen tasks effectively and monitor staff performance during service.
• Step in for the Head Chef when required and help maintain smooth kitchen operations.
• Coordinate with service staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of food orders.
• Address kitchen operational issues and assist in resolving problems during busy service periods.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, food safety regulations, and workplace safety requirements.
• Maintain a professional, organized, and productive kitchen environment.
