Builder / Joiner

Qualifications:

• Must have three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in the marine industry.
• Must have relevant experience working on yachts, marine pleasure crafts, or similar marine vessels.
• Must have hands-on experience and technical knowledge relevant to the Builder / Joiner position.
• Proven experience in marine carpentry, joinery, interior fitting, fabrication, repair, or vessel construction.
• Knowledge of woodworking materials, marine-grade timber, plywood, composite boards, adhesives, sealants, and related materials.
• Ability to accurately measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install joinery and carpentry components.
• Skilled in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, woodworking machinery, and related workshop equipment.
• Ability to read and follow technical drawings, measurements, specifications, and work instructions.
• Must be able to maintain quality workmanship, precision, and attention to detail.
• Must be able to follow technical instructions and established marine construction procedures.
• Must observe workplace safety procedures and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on carpentry and joinery work in a marine environment.
• Must be able to work effectively as part of a team and coordinate with other marine technical personnel.
• Reliable, hardworking, responsible, and committed to completing assigned work according to required quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

• Perform carpentry, joinery, building, repair, and finishing work on yachts, marine pleasure crafts, and similar marine vessels.
• Inspect vessel interiors, cabins, decks, furniture, fittings, and wooden structures for damage, wear, or deterioration.
• Measure, mark, cut, shape, assemble, and install timber, plywood, composite boards, and other construction materials.
• Construct and install cabinets, lockers, doors, panels, partitions, benches, furniture, and other marine joinery components.
• Perform repair and replacement of damaged or worn wooden and interior vessel components.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, layouts, measurements, specifications, and joinery instructions.
• Use hand tools, power tools, saws, drills, routers, sanders, and other carpentry equipment safely and correctly.
• Perform accurate cutting, trimming, drilling, routing, sanding, fitting, and assembly of materials.
• Ensure proper alignment, dimensions, fit, finishing, and structural integrity of installed components.
• Install and secure joinery and interior components using appropriate fasteners, adhesives, sealants, and hardware.
• Perform sanding, polishing, finishing, varnishing, painting, or other surface preparation and finishing work as required.
• Assist with the construction, modification, refurbishment, and restoration of marine interiors and structures.
• Work with different materials and finishes commonly used in marine construction and boat interiors.
• Inspect completed work for quality, appearance, functionality, and compliance with specifications.
• Make necessary adjustments, repairs, or modifications to ensure proper fit and finish.
• Maintain carpentry tools, equipment, materials, and work areas in clean, organized, and safe condition.
• Properly handle timber, adhesives, sealants, coatings, chemicals, and other workshop materials.
• Coordinate with fiberglass specialists, welders, mechanics, electricians, boat builders, and supervisors during vessel projects.
• Follow technical instructions, project specifications, manufacturer recommendations, and established work procedures.
• Observe workplace safety procedures, including proper PPE use and safe operation of carpentry and power tools.
• Report damaged materials, structural concerns, equipment problems, and other technical issues to supervisors.
• Minimize material waste through accurate measurement, cutting, planning, and proper material handling.
• Perform other builder, joinery, carpentry, repair, and marine maintenance duties as assigned.
