BLACKSMITH (Aluminum Facade Designer – Estimator)
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required.
- Bachelor’s / College Degree in Architecture, Urban Studies, or a related field.
- Male applicants are preferred, as specified by the employer.
- Demonstrated knowledge of cladding, curtain walls, aluminum doors, windows, and facade products, including their design and production processes.
- Experienced and competent in AutoCAD 2D and 3D.
- Experience designing and preparing technical documentation for aluminum, glass, steel, and composite panel systems.
- Must be familiar with the European aluminum and facade system.
- Strong understanding of facade construction, aluminum profiles, glazing systems, hardware, fixing methods, and fabrication requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, technical specifications, and project documents.
- Knowledge of quantity takeoffs, material estimation, costing, and preparation of project estimates.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and technical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while consistently meeting deadlines.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with the ability to work cohesively with design team members and Project Managers.
- Able to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced design and construction environment.
- Strong commitment to quality, accuracy, productivity, and timely project delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and prepare designs and technical documentation for aluminum facades, cladding, curtain walls, doors, windows, glass, steel, and composite panel systems.
- Review project requirements, architectural drawings, specifications, and site conditions to develop suitable facade solutions.
- Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD for aluminum and facade systems.
- Produce shop drawings, fabrication drawings, elevations, sections, details, layouts, and other technical documentation.
- Prepare quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for aluminum, glass, steel, composite panels, hardware, accessories, and related facade materials.
- Analyze drawings and project specifications to determine material requirements, dimensions, quantities, and fabrication details.
- Develop accurate estimates based on project drawings, specifications, material costs, labor requirements, and production considerations.
- Ensure designs are practical and compatible with available production and fabrication processes.
- Apply knowledge of European aluminum and facade systems when developing designs and technical solutions.
- Coordinate with design team members, project managers, production personnel, suppliers, and other stakeholders throughout the design and estimation process.
- Review and revise drawings and estimates based on client comments, project changes, technical requirements, and site conditions.
- Ensure drawings, designs, and estimates are accurate, complete, and submitted within required deadlines.
- Identify potential design, material, fabrication, installation, and cost issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Assist project managers and site teams with technical clarification, material requirements, and design-related concerns.
- Maintain organized records of drawings, revisions, estimates, specifications, and other project documentation.
- Ensure all design and estimation work complies with project specifications, quality standards, and applicable technical requirements.
- Manage multiple design and estimation tasks while maintaining accuracy and meeting project deadlines.
- Perform other architectural facade design, drafting, estimation, and technical duties assigned by management.
