Blue Tongue Skills Pty Ltd is seeking qualified and experienced Welders (TIG SS) to work in Australia. The successful candidates will specialize in 6G TIG/GTAW pipe welding of stainless-steel and duplex stainless-steel piping, performing high-quality root, fill, and cap welds in accordance with approved welding procedures, engineering specifications, and applicable industry standards.

WELDER (TIG SS)

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of relevant welding experience using similar welding processes, specifications, and standards.
• Must hold a recognized Welding Certificate.
• Demonstrated 6G TIG/GTAW pipe welding experience is essential.
• Demonstrated stainless-steel pipe welding experience is essential.
• Experience welding duplex stainless-steel piping is highly relevant to the position.
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, piping isometrics, fabrication drawings, specifications, and WPS.
• Proficient in preparing pipe joints and performing high-quality root, fill, and cap welds.
• Knowledge of welding parameters, consumables, pre-heating, interpass requirements, and contamination control.
• Experience with additional welding processes such as MMAW, FCAW, MIG, and SAW is an advantage.
• Ability to perform visual inspection, weld clean-up, gouging, and corrective welding work.
• Knowledge of welding quality-control, inspection, identification, and traceability procedures.
• Ability to safely operate welding equipment, hand tools, lifting equipment, and related workshop machinery.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to weld quality, safety, productivity, and compliance with approved procedures.
• Physically capable of performing welding work in a professional industrial or fabrication environment.
• Reliable, disciplined, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a skilled welding and fabrication team.

Responsibilities:

• Perform 6G TIG/GTAW pipe welding on stainless-steel and duplex stainless-steel piping according to approved welding procedures, specifications, and applicable standards.
• Execute high-quality root, fill, and cap welds on stainless-steel and duplex pipe systems as required.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, piping isometrics, fabrication drawings, specifications, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
• Undertake and successfully complete required weld qualifications for specified welding processes, materials, and applications.
• Prepare pipe joints for welding, including cleaning, grinding, bevel preparation, alignment, and removal or restoration of tack welds.
• Set up and operate TIG/GTAW welding equipment and adjust welding parameters according to the applicable WPS.
• Maintain correct welding consumables, wire feeds, amperage, pre-heating, interpass temperature, and other welding parameters.
• Apply appropriate welding practices for stainless-steel and duplex materials, including contamination control and proper handling of consumables and materials.
• Perform MMAW, FCAW, MIG, and SAW welding when required for other fabrication activities.
• Conduct visual inspection and weld clean-up between welding runs and upon completion of each weld.
• Perform gouging operations when required and ensure gouged areas are properly prepared for subsequent welding.
• Follow weld identification, traceability, quality-control, inspection, and documentation procedures.
• Identify welding defects or irregularities and perform necessary corrective work in accordance with approved procedures.
• Use welding machines, hand tools, gantry cranes, and approved lifting equipment safely and correctly.
• Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in clean, safe, and serviceable condition.
• Handle stainless-steel and duplex materials carefully to prevent contamination, damage, and deterioration.
• Follow workplace health and safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Coordinate with supervisors, weld inspectors, fabricators, pipe fitters, and other trades to ensure work is completed according to project requirements.
• Maintain high standards of safety, workmanship, weld quality, productivity, and compliance with company procedures.
• Report equipment problems, material issues, welding defects, or safety hazards to the appropriate supervisor.
• Complete assigned welding and fabrication tasks within required production schedules and quality standards.
