WELDER – 3G

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of relevant welding experience is required.
• Must hold a Vocational Diploma, Short Course Certificate, or equivalent qualification in welding or a related technical field.
• Must possess a valid qualification or certification for 3G welding.
• Must be willing to undergo and pass a practical welding test based on the employer’s required welding process and standards.
• Knowledgeable in welding joint preparation, welding techniques, and proper weld defect prevention.
• Able to read and interpret basic fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and technical instructions.
• Familiar with welding equipment, consumables, and proper machine settings.
• Knowledge of common welding defects and methods of preventing or correcting them.
• Familiar with welding safety procedures, fire prevention, and proper equipment maintenance.
• Good English communication skills are required.
• Physically fit, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

• Perform welding operations in the 3G position according to approved welding procedures, technical drawings, and project specifications.
• Prepare metal surfaces and joints through measuring, cutting, grinding, cleaning, and proper alignment before welding.
• Set up and operate welding machines and select appropriate electrodes, filler materials, and welding parameters according to job requirements.
• Weld metal plates, structural components, and other fabricated materials while maintaining proper welding techniques and consistency.
• Read and follow fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), when provided.
• Maintain proper weld quality, penetration, bead appearance, and dimensional accuracy.
• Inspect completed welds for visible defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, and incomplete fusion.
• Perform necessary weld repairs or corrections according to approved procedures and supervisor instructions.
• Operate grinders, cutting tools, and other welding-related equipment safely and properly.
• Maintain welding machines, tools, and equipment in good working condition and report any defects or malfunctions.
• Follow workplace safety rules, fire prevention measures, and proper handling procedures for gas cylinders and welding materials.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Coordinate with supervisors, fitters, inspectors, and other fabrication personnel to meet production and quality requirements.
• Perform other welding-related duties as assigned.
