BRICKLAYER

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of relevant working experience is required.
• Must hold a Vocational Diploma, Short Course Certificate, or equivalent qualification in masonry, construction, or a related technical field.
• Knowledgeable in bricklaying techniques, mortar preparation, and concrete block installation.
• Skilled in using masonry tools such as spirit levels, plumb lines, trowels, masonry hammers, measuring tapes, and other related equipment.
• Able to read and interpret basic construction drawings, measurements, and building specifications.
• Knowledge of wall alignment, brick bonding patterns, joint spacing, and finishing techniques.
• Familiar with different types of bricks, concrete blocks, mortar, and other masonry materials.
• Physically fit and capable of lifting construction materials and performing manual labor.
• Willing to work outdoors and in various construction site conditions.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to follow instructions and work effectively with supervisors and other construction workers.

Responsibilities:

• Lay bricks, concrete blocks, and other masonry materials to construct walls, partitions, foundations, and other structures.
• Prepare and mix mortar, cement, and other masonry materials according to project specifications.
• Read and follow construction drawings, measurements, and layout instructions.
• Measure, mark, and prepare surfaces before starting masonry work.
• Apply mortar evenly and position bricks or blocks accurately to maintain proper alignment, spacing, and bonding patterns.
• Use spirit levels, plumb lines, measuring tools, and other masonry equipment to ensure walls are straight, level, and properly aligned.
• Cut and shape bricks or blocks as needed to fit corners, openings, and specific construction requirements.
• Finish mortar joints and masonry surfaces to achieve the required appearance and quality.
• Construct openings for doors, windows, and other building features according to approved measurements.
• Inspect completed masonry work and correct defects or uneven surfaces as necessary.
• Coordinate with carpenters, formwork workers, steel fixers, and other construction personnel.
• Maintain and properly use masonry tools, equipment, and materials.
• Follow construction site safety procedures, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Perform other masonry and bricklaying duties as assigned.
