A manufacturing company in Ireland is seeking an experienced and technically skilled Tool Maker to support injection mold manufacturing, maintenance, and repair operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining injection molds, jigs, fixtures, and related tooling while working closely with process engineers, quality teams, machine suppliers, and other toolmaking professionals to ensure reliable and efficient production. TOOL MAKER
Qualifications:
- Age: 25 to 50 years old.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a busy manufacturing environment.
- Formal Toolmaking qualification with relevant time-served experience producing injection molds.
- Previous experience in an injection mold making or mold maintenance environment.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience in milling, turning, grinding, sparking/EDM, and fitting.
- Ability to perform welding work.
- Good knowledge of injection mold maintenance and repair.
- Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing operations.
- Experience with multi-cavity, hot-runner, or valve-gated molds is a distinct advantage.
- Good understanding of the injection molding process.
- Experience working with technically challenging applications, including medical or tight-tolerance manufacturing, is an advantage.
- Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics is an advantage.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and mechanical skills.
- Ability to work effectively with suppliers, customers, engineers, quality teams, and external toolmakers.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver’s license required/preferred.
- Valid passport required.
- Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on toolmaking and maintenance work.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and service injection molds and ensure they meet established specifications and procedures.
- Develop and maintain standard specifications and procedures for individual molds.
- Monitor existing molds to ensure compliance with required standards.
- Manufacture and maintain jigs, fixtures, and tooling used in production.
- Support the maintenance of injection molding machines and ancillary equipment in coordination with machine suppliers.
- Work closely with Process Engineers to troubleshoot and resolve mold-related problems.
- Investigate tooling issues and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Coordinate with the Quality Department to resolve customer-related quality issues when required.
- Research and support the introduction of new mold maintenance, manufacturing processes, and tooling systems.
- Assist in implementing improved toolroom processes under the direction of the Toolroom Manager.
- Participate in internal meetings to establish priorities, coordinate activities, and assign tasks.
- Provide technical guidance and assist in training employees on new processes, systems, and manufacturing skills.
- Prepare and maintain toolmaking documentation in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 requirements.
- Work with Process Engineers, Group Leaders, and Quality personnel to ensure documentation and procedures remain compliant.
- Liaise with suppliers, customers, approved toolmakers, and external service providers when required.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized toolroom and work environment.
- Comply with company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Perform other toolmaking and maintenance duties as assigned by the Toolroom Manager.
