TECHNICAL ENGINEER-DESIGNER (MECHANICAL)

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
• Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or HVAC specialization is an advantage.
• Minimum of 10–15 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer or Technical Designer in construction or engineering consultancy.
• Proven experience in large-scale retail, commercial, healthcare, residential, and mixed-use building projects.
• Strong background in HVAC design, plumbing systems, fire protection systems, chilled water systems, and building mechanical engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), LEED AP, or equivalent professional certification is preferred.
• Proficiency in English is required; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD MEP, Revit MEP, HAP, or equivalent mechanical design software.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC load calculation software, pump selection, duct design, equipment sizing, psychrometrics, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics.
• Thorough understanding of the Saudi Building Code (SBC), ASHRAE standards, and international mechanical engineering codes.
• Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and electrical drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with BIM coordination, Navisworks, clash detection, energy modeling, sustainability standards, and green building design.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple design projects and deliver accurate engineering solutions under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop mechanical systems for large-scale retail, commercial, healthcare, residential, and mixed-use projects.
• Perform engineering calculations for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, drainage, and chilled water systems.
• Conduct cooling and heating load calculations, duct sizing, pipe sizing, pump selection, and equipment capacity analysis using industry-standard engineering software.
• Prepare mechanical design drawings, system layouts, riser diagrams, equipment schedules, and technical documentation in coordination with architectural, structural, and electrical teams.
• Review and verify mechanical drawings, shop drawings, equipment submittals, and technical documents prepared by consultants, subcontractors, and drafting teams.
• Conduct design reviews, value engineering studies, and system optimization to improve energy efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
• Prepare technical calculations, engineering reports, equipment specifications, and design submittals for client and consultant approval.
• Coordinate with consultants, equipment manufacturers, contractors, and project teams to resolve design conflicts and technical issues.
• Select and specify HVAC equipment, including chillers, air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), pumps, cooling towers, and ventilation systems based on project requirements.
• Ensure all mechanical designs comply with the Saudi Building Code (SBC), ASHRAE standards, international mechanical codes, and project specifications.
• Provide technical support during installation, testing, commissioning, and project execution.
• Review method statements, installation procedures, testing protocols, and commissioning plans for mechanical systems.
• Participate in design coordination meetings, technical discussions, and multidisciplinary project reviews with clients and consultants.
• Prepare technical presentations, energy analysis reports, and system performance studies for project management.
• Utilize AutoCAD MEP, Revit MEP, HAP (Hourly Analysis Program), and other engineering software for mechanical design and analysis.
