MECHANICAL PLANT OPERATOR TECH. (Water Desalination Plant Operator)

Qualifications:

• Technical Diploma in Mechanics, Mechanical Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in various maintenance works or a related technical field.
• Experience in water desalination, water treatment, industrial plants, or similar facilities is an advantage.
• Good understanding of mechanical equipment, machinery, pumps, valves, pipelines, and related plant systems.
• Ability to operate and monitor mechanical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
• Experience with preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to perform routine equipment inspections and identify mechanical abnormalities.
• Familiarity with plant operating procedures, maintenance schedules, and safety requirements.
• Ability to read and follow technical manuals, operating instructions, and maintenance procedures.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Able to work independently and coordinate with plant and maintenance personnel.
• Physically fit and capable of working in an industrial plant environment.

Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor mechanical equipment and systems within the water desalination plant.
• Monitor plant equipment and operating conditions to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Conduct routine inspections of pumps, motors, valves, pipelines, compressors, and other mechanical equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities according to established procedures.
• Identify abnormal equipment conditions, mechanical faults, leaks, vibrations, or unusual operating sounds.
• Assist in troubleshooting mechanical equipment and determine appropriate corrective actions.
• Perform basic repairs, adjustments, lubrication, and replacement of mechanical components.
• Monitor pumps, valves, pressure systems, and other plant equipment during operation.
• Check equipment readings, operating parameters, and plant conditions and report abnormalities promptly.
• Assist with equipment startup, shutdown, isolation, and operational procedures when required.
• Follow plant operating procedures, technical manuals, maintenance instructions, and safety requirements.
• Coordinate with maintenance technicians, supervisors, and other plant personnel during repair and maintenance activities.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment inspections, operating conditions, maintenance activities, and completed work.
• Assist in scheduled shutdowns, equipment servicing, and plant maintenance activities.
• Ensure tools and maintenance equipment are used correctly and safely.
• Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping in assigned plant areas.
• Follow workplace health, safety, environmental, and water-treatment plant regulations.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing plant operation and maintenance activities.
• Report equipment breakdowns, safety hazards, and operational problems to supervisors.
• Perform other plant operation and mechanical maintenance duties assigned by management.
