Straightline Roofing Limited is seeking skilled and physically fit Roofers to join its team in New Zealand. The successful candidates will be responsible for installing, repairing, maintaining, and replacing roofing systems while ensuring proper waterproofing, durability, and quality workmanship. Applicants must have at least three years of relevant field experience, a valid driver’s license, and good English communication skills.

ROOFER

Qualifications:

• Open to first-time overseas applicants and former overseas workers.
• Must be 23–45 years old.
• High school, college, or vocational graduate.
• Minimum of three years of relevant field experience in roofing installation, repair, or maintenance.
• Knowledge of roofing materials, installation methods, flashing, waterproofing, and roof finishing.
• Ability to measure, cut, fit, and secure roofing materials accurately.
• Familiarity with roofing tools, power tools, ladders, and related equipment.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Physically fit and capable of lifting materials, climbing ladders, working at heights, and performing manual labor.
• Proficient in English for workplace communication and understanding instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Responsible, hardworking, safety-conscious, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect roofs and work areas to assess roofing requirements and identify existing damage.
• Read and follow construction drawings, measurements, work plans, and installation instructions.
• Measure roof dimensions and calculate the required roofing materials.
• Prepare roof surfaces, framing, and supporting structures before installation.
• Install roofing materials such as metal roofing sheets, shingles, tiles, or other roofing products according to project specifications.
• Cut, shape, position, and secure roofing materials using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Install roof underlays, insulation, flashing, ridge caps, valleys, gutters, and other roofing components as required.
• Apply waterproofing materials and sealants to prevent water penetration and leaks.
• Repair damaged roofing materials, flashing, and roof joints.
• Remove old or damaged roofing materials when replacement is required.
• Ensure proper alignment, fastening, drainage, and weatherproofing of roofing systems.
• Inspect completed roofing work for defects and ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Identify and report structural damage or other roofing issues to the supervisor.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other roofing equipment.
• Handle roofing materials carefully and minimize waste during installation.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Keep the worksite clean, organized, and free from unnecessary hazards.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures, particularly when working at heights.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), fall-protection systems, and other required safety equipment.
• Coordinate with supervisors, builders, and other construction workers to complete projects on schedule.
• Perform other roofing installation, repair, and maintenance duties as assigned.
