Williams Engineering (2011) Limited is seeking qualified and experienced Concreters to join its construction and infrastructure team in New Zealand. The successful candidates will perform precast concrete formwork, concrete pouring, leveling, finishing, curing, and related construction activities while ensuring that all work meets required quality, technical, and safety standards.
CONCRETER
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience as a Concreter or in related concrete construction work.
- Experience in precast concrete formwork and concrete finishing.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in concrete pouring, spreading, leveling, floating, troweling, polishing, and sealing.
- Ability to install embedded fixtures such as anchor bolts, steel plates, and door sills.
- Experience in finishing both horizontal and vertical concrete surfaces.
- Familiarity with concrete curing procedures, including the use of plastic sheeting and sand.
- Ability to cut concrete lines and joints using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of applying colouring powders and other finishing materials to freshly poured concrete.
- Relevant technical or mechanical qualification.
- At least a High School Graduate.
- Good to excellent English communication skills is a must.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual construction work in workshop and outdoor site environments.
- Good understanding of workplace safety, construction procedures, and proper use of PPE.
- Able to read and follow work instructions, measurements, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Reliable, hardworking, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a construction team.
- Newly renewed passport required.
Responsibilities:
- Perform precast concrete formwork according to project specifications and construction requirements.
- Prepare formwork and work areas before concrete placement.
- Install fixtures and embedded components in concrete forms, including anchor bolts, steel plates, and door sills.
- Prepare, mix, and handle concrete materials according to required specifications.
- Perform concrete pouring, spreading, and leveling using screeds, templates, and appropriate tools.
- Smooth, shape, and seal concrete surfaces for commercial infrastructure projects.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and concrete finishing equipment in workshops and on construction sites.
- Float, trowel, and polish concrete surfaces to achieve the required finish.
- Finish vertical concrete surfaces by preparing, mixing, and applying concrete as required.
- Cut control lines and joints in concrete using appropriate cutting tools and equipment.
- Apply colouring powders and other approved materials to freshly poured concrete according to project requirements.
- Monitor concrete consistency, placement, finishing, and surface quality throughout the work process.
- Cover freshly poured concrete with plastic sheeting and sand to support proper curing.
- Remove and clean formwork and equipment after concrete has sufficiently set.
- Inspect completed concrete surfaces for cracks, defects, uneven areas, and other finishing issues.
- Carry out repairs, patching, smoothing, and finishing corrections when necessary.
- Follow construction drawings, specifications, measurements, and instructions from supervisors or site personnel.
- Maintain and properly use concrete tools, machinery, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Keep work areas, tools, machinery, and materials clean, organized, and safe.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and ensure safe handling of construction materials and equipment.
- Coordinate with other construction workers, tradespeople, supervisors, and site personnel to maintain efficient project operations.
- Perform other concreting and construction-related duties assigned by management.
Salary Package:
- $42,000 NZD per year Net
- 5 days working, 2 days off (with the odd Saturdays)
- Accommodation will be provided.
- Contract duration is for 2 years.
