Sterilization Technician

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a Sterilization Technician, Dental Sterilization Technician, Central Sterile Technician, Dental Assistant, or related healthcare position is an advantage.
• Experience working in a dental clinic, hospital, medical center, or healthcare facility is highly advantageous.
• Must have knowledge of infection prevention, instrument cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, packaging, and storage procedures.
• Familiarity with autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, instrument washers, and other sterilization equipment is an advantage.
• Must understand proper handling of contaminated and sterile instruments.
• Must be detail-oriented and able to follow strict sterilization and infection-control procedures.
• Must have good organizational and time-management skills.
• Must be physically capable of standing for extended periods and handling dental instruments and sterilization equipment.
• Must be responsible, reliable, safety-conscious, and committed to maintaining high standards of hygiene.
• Must be able to work effectively with dentists, dental nurses, hygienists, and other clinic staff.
• Must be willing to comply with applicable Kuwait employment, healthcare, and professional requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Receive, sort, and inspect used dental instruments and equipment for proper sterilization processing.
• Clean and decontaminate dental instruments using approved manual and mechanical cleaning procedures.
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and instrument washers, as applicable.
• Package, label, and prepare dental instruments for sterilization according to established procedures.
• Perform sterilization cycles according to manufacturer instructions and clinic protocols.
• Monitor sterilization processes and maintain appropriate records of sterilization cycles and equipment performance.
• Conduct routine checks and quality-control procedures to ensure effective sterilization.
• Inspect sterilized instruments for cleanliness, integrity, and proper packaging before storage or use.
• Store sterilized instruments and supplies properly to prevent contamination.
• Distribute sterilized instruments and equipment to dental treatment rooms as required.
• Maintain sterilization areas, equipment, work surfaces, and storage areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Handle contaminated instruments and materials using appropriate infection control and personal protective equipment (PPE) procedures.
• Report damaged instruments, sterilization equipment problems, failed cycles, or other concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Maintain adequate stocks of sterilization supplies, packaging materials, and disinfectants.
• Follow clinic policies, infection prevention procedures, occupational safety requirements, and applicable healthcare standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records related to instrument processing and sterilization.
• Perform other sterilization and dental clinic support duties as assigned.
