Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of working experience as a Steel Framer or in a related steel framing/construction position.
- Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in a relevant or similar field.
- Must have a valid passport.
- Must have relevant work experience in the same field.
- Practical experience in steel framing, metal stud installation, track installation, and wall framing.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, structural plans, blueprints, and construction specifications.
- Skilled in measuring, marking, cutting, and assembling metal studs, tracks, runners, and furring channels.
- Ability to safely and effectively use tape measures, laser levels, chalk lines, hand tools, and power tools.
- Knowledge of installing drywall, plasterboard, or wallboards onto metal framing systems.
- Ability to produce accurate, level, plumb, properly aligned, and securely fastened framing systems.
- Basic knowledge of welding or other metal-joining methods when required for steel framing work.
- Good understanding of construction site safety procedures and proper use of PPE.
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual construction work, including lifting, carrying, bending, standing, and working at heights when required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good problem-solving and practical construction skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under supervision and independently when required.
- Good teamwork and communication skills when coordinating with other construction trades.
- Reliable, hardworking, disciplined, and safety-conscious.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret architectural plans, structural drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine framing requirements, dimensions, layouts, and material quantities.
- Calculate and estimate the required quantities of metal studs, tracks, runners, furring channels, fasteners, and other framing materials.
- Measure and mark framing materials accurately using tape measures, laser levels, chalk lines, and other measuring tools.
- Cut metal studs, runners, tracks, furring channels, and other components to the required sizes using appropriate hand and power tools.
- Set out wall, ceiling, partition, and framing layouts according to approved drawings and project specifications.
- Install vertical and horizontal metal studs and secure framing tracks and other components in their correct positions.
- Assemble and erect steel framing systems using screws, anchors, fasteners, and other appropriate fixing methods.
- Use welding equipment when required and when appropriate for the framing system and project specifications.
- Ensure framing components are properly aligned, level, plumb, spaced, and securely fastened.
- Install framing around doors, windows, service openings, fixtures, vents, and other structural or architectural features.
- Measure, cut, position, and fasten drywall, plasterboard, or wallboards to completed metal framing systems.
- Create neat and accurate openings for electrical outlets, plumbing fixtures, vents, doors, windows, and other installations.
- Check completed framing and wallboard installations for correct measurements, alignment, strength, and workmanship.
- Make necessary adjustments or corrections to ensure the finished framework meets project specifications.
- Coordinate with carpenters, electricians, plumbers, plasterers, supervisors, and other construction workers to avoid conflicts and maintain efficient workflow.
- Handle, transport, and store metal framing materials, tools, and equipment safely.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and report damaged or defective equipment.
- Follow construction schedules and complete assigned framing work within required timeframes.
- Minimize material waste through accurate measurement, cutting, planning, and proper material handling.
- Follow applicable Australian building requirements, construction standards, site procedures, and workplace safety regulations.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and use appropriate safety equipment when performing construction and framing work.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area throughout the project.
- Report unsafe conditions, structural concerns, material shortages, or work issues to the supervisor.
- Perform other steel framing and construction-related duties assigned by management.
