Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic Technician
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in heavy equipment mechanical maintenance or a similar field.
- Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in a relevant field or similar qualification.
- Male applicants are preferred for this role.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment, cranes, vehicles, and machinery.
- Experienced in hydraulic pump, engine, and drive mechanism repair and overhaul.
- Ability to diagnose equipment problems and perform effective mechanical troubleshooting.
- Able to read and interpret equipment manuals, technical drawings, work orders, and maintenance procedures.
- Knowledge of preventive, predictive, and scheduled maintenance systems.
- Familiarity with LMI calibration and troubleshooting is required.
- Knowledge of GPS and black box monitoring systems is an advantage.
- Skilled in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, electric meters, and material-handling equipment.
- Basic computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, and MS Outlook.
- Knowledge of ERP systems is preferable.
- Good English communication skills, both writing, speaking, and understanding.
- Strong attention to safety, equipment reliability, and quality workmanship.
- Physically capable of performing hands-on maintenance, repair, installation, and emergency breakdown work.
- Able to work independently and effectively with supervisors, operators, technicians, and other maintenance personnel.
- Responsible, reliable, hardworking, and committed to maintaining high standards of safety and equipment performance.
Responsibilities:
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy equipment, cranes, vehicles, and facility machinery.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and productive maintenance activities to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
- Carry out scheduled maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, machinery, and vehicles.
- Respond promptly to emergency and unscheduled equipment breakdowns at the worksite.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and operational problems using appropriate troubleshooting procedures.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, technical drawings, maintenance instructions, and work orders.
- Identify defective or worn components and repair, replace, or adjust parts as required.
- Repair and overhaul hydraulic pumps, engines, and drive mechanisms.
- Troubleshoot equipment using technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and prescribed procedures.
- Install, assemble, dismantle, and properly align heavy equipment and machinery components.
- Test and calibrate equipment after maintenance or repair to verify proper operation.
- Use hand tools, power tools, electric meters, and material-handling equipment safely and correctly.
- Conduct regular inspections to detect faulty operations, abnormal conditions, defective materials, and potential equipment failures.
- Report equipment defects, unusual conditions, breakdowns, and safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Perform emergency breakdown repairs to restore equipment to safe and reliable operating condition.
- Perform LMI (Load Moment Indicator) calibration and troubleshooting as required.
- Assist with GPS and black box monitoring systems related to heavy equipment and vehicles.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, maintenance activities, equipment conditions, and service work.
- Coordinate with supervisors, operators, and other maintenance personnel to minimize equipment downtime.
- Follow manufacturer specifications, maintenance schedules, technical procedures, and work instructions.
- Comply with site safety regulations, company policies, environmental requirements, and proper maintenance practices.
- Keep workshops, work areas, tools, equipment, and maintenance facilities clean, organized, and safe.
- Perform other mechanical maintenance and equipment-related duties assigned by management.
