SCAFFOLDER
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience using the Ringlock scaffold system.
- 5+ years of experience as a Leading Hand or Team Leader supervising a scaffold crew.
- Proven experience in scaffolding installation, modification, and dismantling.
- Strong knowledge of scaffolding systems, components, erection procedures, and safe work practices.
- Ability to read and interpret site plans, scaffold drawings, layouts, and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices and construction-site safety requirements.
- Experience supervising and coordinating scaffold workers is required.
- Ability to lead a team and effectively distribute work assignments.
- Good to excellent English communication skills.
- Strong awareness of working-at-height hazards and fall-protection requirements.
- Physically fit and capable of performing demanding manual work.
- Comfortable working at heights, outdoors, and in varying weather conditions.
- Good balance, coordination, and physical stamina.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, position, and assemble scaffolding components.
- Reliable, responsible, safety-conscious, and team-oriented.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project schedules.
- Willing to follow New Zealand construction-site safety procedures and employer requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Install, erect, modify, and dismantle scaffolding structures according to approved plans, specifications, and site requirements.
- Work with Ringlock scaffolding systems and related components.
- Inspect scaffolding components before installation and identify damaged or defective materials.
- Assemble scaffold frames, standards, ledgers, braces, platforms, guardrails, toe boards, and other components correctly.
- Ensure scaffolding structures are properly aligned, level, secured, and stable.
- Install access ladders, stairways, platforms, guardrails, and other required safety components.
- Interpret and follow site plans, scaffold drawings, layouts, and technical instructions.
- Measure and assess work areas to determine appropriate scaffold configurations.
- Modify or adjust scaffolding structures as required by changing site conditions and project requirements.
- Dismantle scaffolding safely and systematically after completion of work or when no longer required.
- Ensure scaffold materials are safely handled, transported, stacked, and stored.
- Conduct visual checks and inspections of erected scaffolding and report defects or unsafe conditions.
- Ensure scaffolding is suitable and safe for workers and other site personnel before use.
- Supervise scaffold installation activities and ensure work is completed according to safety and quality requirements.
- Lead and coordinate assigned scaffold crews and team members.
- Assign daily tasks and monitor the progress and performance of scaffold workers.
- Provide guidance and practical instruction to scaffold crew members.
- Coordinate with site supervisors, construction managers, tradespeople, and other contractors.
- Ensure scaffold work does not interfere with other construction activities.
- Follow strict Health and Safety procedures at all times.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including fall-protection equipment where required.
- Maintain safe working practices when working at height and around construction equipment.
- Identify and report hazards, unsafe scaffold conditions, damaged components, and incidents immediately.
- Maintain good housekeeping around scaffold work areas.
- Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and safely used.
- Participate in toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and site inspections.
- Complete required scaffold-related documentation and reports when assigned.
- Perform other scaffolding and site duties as directed by management.
