Peloton Workready is seeking an experienced and skilled Renderer (Solid Plaster) for an overseas work opportunity in Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing wall and ceiling surfaces, mixing and applying cement render and plaster, leveling and smoothing surfaces, finishing corners and angles, creating decorative textures, and repairing damaged or deteriorated surfaces while maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.
RENDERER (SOLID PLASTER)
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of working experience as a Renderer, Solid Plasterer, Plasterer, or in a related position.
- Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in a relevant or similar field.
- Must have a valid passport.
- Must have relevant work experience in the same field.
- Practical experience in solid plastering, cement rendering, surface preparation, leveling, smoothing, and finishing.
- Skilled in mixing and applying cement render, plaster, mortar, and other surface coating materials.
- Ability to properly prepare walls and surfaces by cleaning, scraping, removing old materials, and applying bonding agents.
- Skilled in using trowels, floats, screeds, straightedges, levels, mixers, and other plastering tools.
- Ability to achieve uniform thickness, straight lines, level surfaces, and properly formed corners and angles.
- Knowledge of different plastering and rendering techniques, including smooth and decorative finishes.
- Ability to identify and repair cracks, holes, deteriorated surfaces, and other plaster or cement defects.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Good understanding of construction-site safety procedures and proper use of PPE.
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual construction work, including lifting, bending, kneeling, standing, and working at heights when required.
- Good practical problem-solving and technical skills.
- Ability to work efficiently according to project schedules and specifications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a construction team.
- Reliable, hardworking, disciplined, and safety-conscious.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect walls, ceilings, corners, and other surfaces to determine the appropriate rendering or solid plastering requirements.
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, scraping, removing old render or plaster, and eliminating dirt, dust, loose materials, and other contaminants.
- Repair cracks, holes, uneven areas, and damaged surfaces before applying new render or plaster.
- Apply appropriate bonding agents, primers, and surface preparation materials to improve adhesion.
- Measure and prepare the required quantities of cement, sand, plaster, render, water, additives, and other materials.
- Mix cement render, plaster, mortar, and other coating materials to the correct consistency according to project specifications.
- Apply multiple coats of cement render, solid plaster, and other plastering materials using trowels and appropriate hand tools.
- Spread and distribute render evenly over walls, ceilings, and other surfaces.
- Build up surfaces to the required thickness while ensuring proper adhesion between coats.
- Use screeds, straightedges, levels, and other tools to plumb, straighten, and level walls and surfaces.
- Ensure corners, angles, edges, reveals, and junctions are properly formed, aligned, and finished.
- Smooth and finish rendered surfaces to achieve a uniform and professional appearance.
- Apply different finishing techniques according to project requirements, including smooth, textured, and decorative finishes.
- Create decorative textures, patterns, and surface finishes as specified by the project or client.
- Check rendered surfaces for cracks, hollows, uneven thickness, ridges, and other imperfections.
- Perform necessary touch-ups, sanding, patching, or additional rendering to correct defects.
- Repair damaged, cracked, deteriorated, or weathered cement-rendered surfaces.
- Remove loose or deteriorated material and prepare affected areas before carrying out repairs.
- Ensure repaired areas blend properly with surrounding surfaces in terms of level, texture, and appearance.
- Protect windows, doors, fixtures, flooring, and surrounding areas from plaster, cement, render, and other materials during application.
- Clean and maintain trowels, floats, mixers, buckets, levels, straightedges, and other rendering equipment.
- Safely operate mixers and other equipment used in rendering and solid plastering work.
- Handle, transport, and store cement, plaster, sand, render, tools, and other materials safely.
- Minimize material waste through accurate measurement, mixing, and application.
- Follow project drawings, specifications, work instructions, and construction schedules.
- Coordinate with builders, bricklayers, carpenters, painters, roofers, and other construction trades to ensure efficient workflow.
- Follow applicable Australian construction requirements, workplace procedures, and health and safety regulations.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Report unsafe conditions, damaged tools, material shortages, or significant surface defects to the supervisor.
- Perform other rendering, solid plastering, surface preparation, finishing, and repair duties assigned by management.
