Integrated Welding Industries is seeking a highly skilled MIG Welder with extensive experience in the marine industry. The successful candidate will perform aluminum MIG welding and fabrication for boats, ships, and marine structures while ensuring high-quality workmanship, structural integrity, and compliance with industry standards. The role also involves mentoring junior welders, assisting in work planning, and supporting continuous improvement in fabrication operations.
MIG WELDER
Qualifications:
- Must possess welding and/or fabrication certificates.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in the marine sector, including boat, ship, or hull building and repair.
- Proven expertise in aluminum MIG welding and fabrication.
- Strong knowledge of welding procedures, fabrication techniques, and marine construction standards.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication plans, and welding symbols.
- Skilled in operating welding machines, fabrication equipment, and hand tools.
- Good understanding of workplace safety practices and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
- Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Willing and able to mentor and train workplace staff.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual labor in a fabrication or shipbuilding environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform high-quality MIG welding on aluminum components used in boats, ships, and marine structures.
- Fabricate, assemble, repair, and modify aluminum hulls, decks, frames, and other marine components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication plans.
- Prepare materials for welding by cutting, grinding, cleaning, fitting, and aligning components.
- Inspect welded joints to ensure compliance with quality standards and project specifications.
- Operate welding machines, cutting equipment, grinders, and other fabrication tools safely and efficiently.
- Perform repairs on damaged marine structures and fabricated components.
- Conduct routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of welding equipment.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Assist supervisors in planning fabrication activities and meeting project schedules.
- Mentor, train, and provide technical guidance to junior welders and fabrication personnel.
- Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and production teams to ensure efficient workflow and quality output.
- Report material shortages, equipment issues, and production concerns promptly.
- Perform other welding and fabrication duties assigned by management.
