Royal Rigging is seeking experienced Escalator and Elevator Technicians to install, modernize, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair elevators and escalators in commercial, residential, and industrial facilities. The successful candidate will ensure all vertical transportation systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Australian standards, manufacturer specifications, and company safety procedures.

ESCALATOR AND ELEVATOR TECHNICIAN

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience as an Escalator and Elevator Technician.
• At least a Vocational Diploma or Associate Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field.
• Skilled in elevator and escalator installation, modernization, maintenance, servicing, and troubleshooting.
• Experience working with major elevator and escalator brands such as Otis Worldwide Corporation, KONE, TK Elevator (formerly Thyssenkrupp Elevator), and Schindler Group.
• Otis-trained technicians are highly regarded, although candidates with experience on other major brands are also encouraged to apply.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and control systems used in elevators and escalators.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
• Skilled in using diagnostic tools, electrical testing equipment, and hand and power tools.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Physically fit and capable of working at heights, in confined spaces, and performing manual tasks safely.
• Willing to work flexible hours, including emergency call-outs and overtime when required.

Responsibilities:

• Install, test, commission, and modernize elevator and escalator systems.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on elevators, escalators, and moving walkways.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults in elevator and escalator equipment.
• Inspect motors, controllers, drives, brakes, doors, safety devices, sensors, and control systems to ensure proper operation.
• Replace or repair defective components, wiring, cables, switches, relays, bearings, rollers, chains, and other mechanical or electrical parts.
• Perform adjustments, lubrication, alignment, and calibration of equipment to maintain optimal performance.
• Conduct safety inspections and functional testing after maintenance or repair work.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, blueprints, and service documentation.
• Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and restore equipment to safe operating condition.
• Maintain accurate service reports, inspection records, maintenance logs, and repair documentation.
• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations, electrical safety standards, and manufacturer requirements.
• Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, contractors, and clients regarding maintenance schedules and technical issues.
• Maintain company tools, testing instruments, vehicles, and equipment in good working condition.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians when required.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.
