Savvana Constructions Limited is seeking an experienced HVAC Mechanic to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and commission HVAC and refrigeration systems for modular housing units, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities in Papua New Guinea. The successful candidate will ensure all HVAC installations and maintenance activities comply with project specifications, quality standards, and health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) requirements while supporting efficient facility operations.
HVAC Mechanic
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years relevant working experience in HVAC installation and maintenance.
- Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
- Valid Refrigerant Handling Certification is required.
- HVAC Installation and Maintenance Certification is preferred.
- HSEQ or Integrated Management System (IMS) training is an advantage.
- Electrical Safety Awareness training is desirable.
- Experience in modular construction, accommodation camps, commercial buildings, or industrial facilities.
- Experience in testing and commissioning HVAC systems.
- Proficient in servicing split systems, package units, ventilation systems, and refrigeration equipment.
- Experience working within quality-controlled manufacturing or construction environments; ISO-certified organization experience is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC installation, refrigeration systems, preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, testing and commissioning, quality assurance, and health and safety compliance.
- Good technical reporting, communication, problem-solving, time management, and inventory management skills.
- Familiarity with IMS and ISO standards is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Install HVAC systems, air-conditioning units, ductwork, ventilation systems, and associated components in modular housing and prefabricated structures.
- Ensure all installations comply with approved drawings, engineering specifications, and quality standards.
- Coordinate HVAC installation activities with electrical and plumbing teams to ensure efficient project execution.
- Perform testing, balancing, commissioning, and operational verification of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Complete commissioning reports and maintain accurate testing documentation.
- Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment to maximize system reliability and performance.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in air-conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems, and perform repairs or component replacements.
- Maintain HVAC systems serving offices, workshops, production facilities, and accommodation camps.
- Monitor equipment performance, energy efficiency, and recommend improvements to enhance system reliability.
- Participate in inspections, quality audits, and project handovers, ensuring prompt rectification of identified defects.
- Comply with HSEQ policies, conduct hazard identification and risk assessments, and safely handle refrigerants and hazardous materials.
- Monitor the use of HVAC materials, spare parts, and consumables while supporting inventory control and minimizing waste.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports, equipment history, and technical documentation.
- Support production and facility teams with HVAC-related technical requirements and coordinate shutdowns to minimize operational disruptions.
