Generator Electrical Technician
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant working experience is required.
- Candidates must be a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Engineering (Electrical/Electronic), Engineering (Others), or a similar field.
- Completion of a Diesel Technology program or vocational training is preferred.
- Technical college training and professional Diesel Certification are an advantage.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic, particularly with motor vehicle electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and generator sets (gensets).
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, generator systems, mechanical components, and electrical systems.
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults accurately and efficiently.
- Experience troubleshooting gensets, control panels, electrical wiring, and related generator components.
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems and components is required.
- Ability to dismantle, inspect, repair, replace, and reassemble mechanical components.
- Ability to read and follow technical and service manuals.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures, including oil changes, lubrication, inspections, and engine tune-ups.
- Skilled in using mechanical tools, electrical testing equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work safely with diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulic equipment, and generator sets.
- Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on mechanical and electrical work.
- Reliable, hardworking, responsible, and safety-conscious.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a technical maintenance team.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines, generator sets, control panels, and related components.
- Inspect engines, gensets, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and mechanical components to identify faults and defects.
- Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other mechanical components when necessary.
- Inspect dismantled parts to determine wear, damage, or other defects.
- Repair, replace, and recondition worn or defective mechanical and electrical components.
- Reassemble engines, generators, machinery, and other mechanical components according to service specifications.
- Refer to technical and service manuals when performing repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on diesel engines, generator sets, and related equipment.
- Carry out oil changes, lubrication, engine tune-ups, inspections, and other routine maintenance services.
- Inspect and maintain generator electrical systems, wiring, batteries, control panels, and associated components.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults in motor vehicles, gensets, and other diesel-powered equipment.
- Troubleshoot and service hydraulic systems and components.
- Conduct testing after repairs or maintenance to verify proper equipment operation.
- Monitor generator performance and identify potential problems before they result in equipment failure.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, servicing, replacement parts, and maintenance activities.
- Use appropriate diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, and testing instruments safely.
- Follow manufacturer specifications, service procedures, workplace safety rules, and environmental requirements.
- Maintain tools, equipment, work areas, and mechanical components in clean and safe working condition.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of oils, lubricants, filters, and other maintenance materials.
- Report major equipment faults, parts requirements, and safety concerns to supervisors or management.
- Perform other generator, diesel mechanic, electrical, hydraulic, and maintenance duties assigned by management.
