DESCON Engineering is seeking experienced Riggers to support lifting and rigging operations for major projects in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, and Heavy Industry sectors. The successful candidates will be responsible for safely preparing, securing, lifting, and relocating heavy equipment, machinery, and structural components using approved rigging techniques and lifting equipment. They will work closely with crane operators and lifting supervisors to ensure all lifting activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards.

GAS FITTER (RIGGER)

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 2 years of working experience is required.
• Candidates must be at least a High School Graduate.
• Experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, or Heavy Industry is mandatory.
• Proven experience performing rigging operations involving heavy equipment and industrial materials.
• Strong knowledge of rigging techniques, lifting equipment, load calculations, sling angles, and safe lifting practices.
• Experience using slings, chains, wire ropes, hoists, shackles, hooks, and cranes for lifting operations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with crane operators using standard hand signals and radio communication.
• Familiarity with lifting plans, risk assessments, and international safety standards for lifting operations.
• Physically fit and capable of working in demanding industrial environments and at elevated work locations.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and hazard awareness.
• Good communication skills in English or Arabic.
• Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities:

• Safely secure, lift, position, and relocate heavy equipment, machinery, piping, structural steel, and industrial materials.
• Select and inspect appropriate rigging equipment, including slings, chains, shackles, hooks, wire ropes, hoists, and lifting beams before use.
• Assist in planning and preparing lifting operations in accordance with approved lifting plans and safety procedures.
• Work closely with crane operators by providing clear hand signals or radio communication during lifting activities.
• Guide suspended loads safely through confined spaces, elevated work areas, and restricted access locations.
• Ensure loads are properly balanced, secured, and within the safe working load limits of lifting equipment.
• Perform pre-use inspections of rigging gear and report damaged or defective equipment immediately.
• Follow lifting procedures, permit-to-work systems, and company safety regulations at all times.
• Coordinate with supervisors, lifting engineers, safety officers, and other construction personnel during lifting operations.
• Maintain lifting equipment and rigging tools in good working condition.
• Keep work areas clean and free of hazards before, during, and after lifting activities.
• Participate in construction, maintenance, shutdown, and turnaround projects as assigned.
