Gabon Wood Industries is seeking an experienced Forest and Certification Manager to oversee forest management certification, chain-of-custody compliance, and related operational standards. The successful candidate will lead certification activities, coordinate audits, ensure compliance with FSC/SCS standards, and drive continuous improvements in productivity, quality, efficiency, and workplace safety. The position requires strong leadership, analytical and reporting skills, and proficiency in both English and French.

Qualifications:
- Proven experience in logging or sawmill operations.
- Experience in forest management, certification, chain-of-custody systems, or related forestry operations is an advantage.
- Strong leadership skills with a results-oriented approach.
- Proficient in both English and French, with the ability to communicate effectively in a professional environment.
- Good reporting, documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret certification requirements, operational procedures, and compliance standards.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Positive, team-oriented, and collaborative approach to work.
- Able to work independently and make sound decisions when required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and compliance.
- Ability to lead, train, motivate, and develop employees.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety principles.
Responsibilities:
- Manage FSC/SCS forest management and chain-of-custody certification activities.
- Ensure continued compliance with applicable FSC standards, regulations, quality requirements, and safety procedures.
- Coordinate and prepare for internal and external forest certification audits.
- Serve as the key contact for certification bodies, auditors, management, and relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor certification requirements and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
- Lead the forest certification department and effectively coordinate team activities.
- Improve departmental productivity, operational quality, efficiency, and overall performance.
- Develop, review, update, and maintain company policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), procedures, checklists, and certification-related documentation.
- Monitor forest management and chain-of-custody processes to ensure proper implementation of established standards.
- Conduct employee training and support staff development on certification, compliance, quality, and safety requirements.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives across forest management and certification operations.
- Identify operational risks, compliance gaps, and areas requiring corrective or preventive action.
- Promote and maintain a strong workplace safety culture within the department.
- Maintain accurate certification records, audit documentation, procedures, and compliance reports.
- Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc reports for management.
- Analyze operational and certification data and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure effective implementation of certification and compliance requirements.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
